Network Engineer II
Onsite in Mt. Laurel, NJ
Contract through 12/31/26, potential extensions
We are looking for a skilled Network Engineer to support and enhance enterprise networking environments in Mount Laurel, NJ. This contract position focuses on building, maintaining, and improving reliable connectivity across routing, switching, telephony, and security infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with multi-vendor network technologies and a practical approach to performance tuning, service delivery, and issue resolution.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and support customer-premises networking and telephony equipment, including routers, switches, and related connectivity devices.
Plan and implement network solutions involving hardware, software, and communication services across enterprise environments.
Monitor network operations to maintain service quality, availability, and compliance with established operational standards.
Investigate connectivity and performance problems, identify root causes, and restore stable network service in a timely manner.
Fine-tune network and system performance to improve reliability, throughput, and overall user experience.
Manage and support Layer 2 and Layer 3 network infrastructure across LAN and WAN environments.
Administer firewall platforms and security controls using technologies such as Cisco ASA, Juniper, and Check Point.
Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver network changes, upgrades, and ongoing infrastructure support.
Requirements
3 to 5 years of hands-on experience working with Cisco and Juniper routers in production environments.
Strong understanding of internetwork design principles, routing concepts, and practical network application deployment.
Solid knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, including switching, routing, and IP-based communications.
Experience troubleshooting network protocols and resolving issues affecting connectivity and performance.
Background supporting firewall technologies, including platforms such as Cisco ASA, Juniper, or Check Point NG.
Extensive experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies.
Ability to communicate clearly while working through technical issues with team members and stakeholders.
Relevant networking certifications, such as CCNA or comparable credentials, are preferred.
