Seeking a senior-level Principal Java Spring Boot Developer with 8+ years of total software engineering experience (and 5+ years of dedicated Java/Spring Boot/AWS cloud engineering) for a 6-month contract role located in Raleigh, NC.
This position is strictly local to Raleigh, NC and requires a Mandatory Face-to-Face Interview.
The candidate will lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-throughput RESTful APIs, cloud-native microservices on AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, ECS/EKS), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), event-driven messaging (Kafka, SQS), and secure DevSecOps pipelines integrated with GitLab Duo AI tools.
#Key Responsibilities
API & Microservices Architecture: Design, build, test, and maintain secure RESTful APIs and Java-based microservices using Java 11/17, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud. Establish Swagger/OpenAPI contracts, error-handling, resilience patterns, and API versioning.
AWS Cloud Engineering & IaC: Architect scalable cloud-native services using AWS API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, EKS, S3, RDS, IAM, and CloudWatch. Define and manage Infrastructure as Code via Terraform and CloudFormation.
Security & DevSecOps Controls: Enforce enterprise security standards using OAuth 2.0, JWT, Spring Security, and AWS IAM. Integrate SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, container scanning, and secret detection directly into GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
Event-Driven & Banking Systems Integration: Engineer resilient event-driven architectures utilizing Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, and SNS, ensuring transaction ordering, retry/replay mechanisms, and dead-letter queue handling for core financial flows.
GitLab SaaS & AI-Assisted Development: Administer GitLab SaaS repositories and CI/CD pipelines. Utilize GitLab Duo AI for code generation, unit test creation, refactoring, and vulnerability remediation under strict human security validation.

Experience Tenure: 8+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years of hands-on Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and AWS cloud engineering.
Core Technical Stack: Advanced proficiency in Java 11/17, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, Containers), Terraform/CloudFormation, and Kafka/SQS.
Security & CI/CD Mastery: Proven experience with OAuth 2.0, JWT, Spring Security, and GitLab CI/CD DevSecOps automation pipelines.
Education & Location: Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field required. Must be Local to Raleigh, NC and available for an In-Person / Face-to-Face Interview.
