Position: SAS Architect

Location: 100% REMOTE

Duration: Short-term contract with potential for extension

Summary:

• Seeking a Senior SAS Architect to support a long-standing client with a mature SAS and enterprise data environment.
• The immediate objective is to architect and execute an upgrade of the existing production SAS environment. This is a hands-on architect-level engagement requiring someone who can independently assess the current environment, plan the upgrade, execute it safely, troubleshoot issues, and validate the upgraded production platform.
• This involves standing up a separate development/test SAS environment. The purpose would be to provide a non-production environment where changes, upgrades, reporting modifications, and other SAS work can be developed and validated.
• The environment includes Oracle Database, Tableau, and ERP, with SAS being used within the reporting/data ecosystem.

Skills/Experience Needed:

1. SAS Architecture & Administration — Deep hands-on experience with enterprise SAS environments, including architecture, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and production support. 
2. SAS Upgrade Experience — Must have personally led or played a senior hands-on role in upgrading a mature, production SAS environment.
3. Architect / Technical Lead Experience — Approximately 4–5+ years operating at Lead or Architect level, with the ability to independently own an engagement rather than requiring day-to-day technical direction.
4. Oracle Database Environment — Strong experience integrating or operating SAS against Oracle Database. 
5. Client-Facing Consulting Skills — Strong communication and presentation skills. Must be comfortable working directly with our leadership and client stakeholders, explaining technical decisions, risks, progress, and recommendations.
