Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in the insurance industry and insurance administration systems to support complex business and technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a techno-functional Business Analyst who can effectively bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, analyze complex business processes and workflows, and translate business needs into clear, actionable system requirements.
This role requires someone who is comfortable working in a technically complex environment, analyzing data, supporting solution design, documenting requirements, and partnering closely with developers, business users, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to gather, analyze, document, and translate business requirements into functional and system requirements.
Analyze complex insurance and/or pension administration processes, workflows, and systems to identify business needs, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and maintain business requirements, functional requirements, user stories, use cases, process flows, workflow documentation, and acceptance criteria.
Work closely with technical teams and developers to clarify requirements and support solution design and implementation.
Utilize SQL and data analysis to investigate system behavior, validate business requirements, identify data issues, and support testing and troubleshooting.
Participate in system testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including developing test scenarios, validating results, and ensuring delivered functionality meets business requirements.
Analyze existing processes and systems to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, modernization, and increased operational efficiency.
Communicate complex technical and business concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Support projects throughout the full lifecycle, from requirements gathering and analysis through development, testing, implementation, and post-production support.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of Business Analyst experience, with an ideal background of approximately 10 years.
Required insurance industry experience, preferably within a large insurance or InsurTech organization.
Hands-on experience with insurance and/or pension administration systems.
Strong understanding of insurance business processes, workflows, and system requirements.
Experience working directly with both business stakeholders and technical/development teams.
Strong SQL and data analysis skills.
Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting complex business and system requirements.
Experience supporting solution design, system testing, UAT, and implementation activities.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to quickly learn and understand complex systems, applications, data structures, and business processes.
Strong business acumen with the ability to understand business objectives while maintaining enough technical knowledge to effectively collaborate with IT teams.
Preferred Background
Candidates with experience supporting major InsurTech platforms, insurance administration platforms, policy administration systems, claims systems, pension/retirement administration systems, or other large-scale insurance technology environments are highly preferred.
Experience with platforms such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, Sapiens, Majesco, Insurity, FINEOS, Vitech, Socotra, or similar insurance technology platforms is a plus.
