Job Title: MS SQL SERVER DBA

Location : Remote

a. DBA

• Install, configure, and maintain MS SQL Server databases, including SQL Server 2016 and later versions.

• Manage SQL Server instances, databases, and related services (e.g., SQL Server Agent).

• Configure database backups, restore strategies, and recovery models to ensure data availability and disaster recovery.

b. Performance Monitoring and Tuning:

• Monitor database performance using performance tools and queries to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.

• Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and database objects to improve performance and resource usage.

• Implement best practices for database indexing, query optimization, and caching strategies.

• Regularly monitor disk space, memory, and CPU utilization for SQL Server performance optimization.

c. Backup and Disaster Recovery:

• Design, implement, and test backup and disaster recovery plans for SQL Server databases.

• Ensure database integrity and availability with regular backups, including full, differential, and transaction log backups.

• Restore databases as needed in case of system failures or data corruption.

d. Database Security and Compliance:

• Configure and enforce SQL Server security policies, including user access, authentication, and authorization.

• Implement encryption techniques (e.g., TDE, SSL) to protect sensitive data.

• Apply patches and security updates to SQL Server instances, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.

• Perform regular audits of database access, roles, and privileges to ensure compliance with internal security standards.

e. High Availability and Disaster Recovery Solutions:

• Configure and manage high availability solutions like AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Database Mirroring, and SQL Server Clustering.

• Ensure that high availability solutions are tested, monitored, and documented.

 f. Database Migration and Upgrades:

• Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patches across SQL Server instances.

• Migrate data and database objects from legacy systems to new environments (e.g., SQL Server to SQL Server or SQL Server to cloud-based platforms).

• Validate and test systems post-migration to ensure minimal disruptions and full system functionality.

 g. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:

• Investigate and resolve database-related incidents, including system errors, performance issues, and data corruption.

• Work closely with other IT teams (e.g., applications, networking, system administration) to troubleshoot and resolve cross-functional problems.

• Provide support for SQL Server integration and data exchange with other systems (e.g., SAP ERP).

 h. Automation and Scripting:

• Develop and maintain SQL scripts for automation of routine tasks, such as backups, performance monitoring, and reporting.

• Automate processes using PowerShell or other scripting languages to increase operational efficiency.

i. Collaboration and Support:

• Maintain up-to-date documentation for all SQL Server databases, configurations, and procedures.

• Provide regular reports on database performance, backup status, system health, and security.

j. Documentation and Reporting:

• Provide support for development teams, helping with database schema design, query performance tuning, and database best practices

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new database solutions or enhancements to existing ones.
