Position Summary
The NetSuite Architect is responsible for the technical architecture, design, and ongoing evolution of the organization's NetSuite ERP platform. This role owns the standards, patterns, and governance for custom development — with a strong emphasis on SuiteScript (1.0 and 2.x) — and serves as the senior technical authority on integrations, customizations, and platform scalability. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on NetSuite development experience with the strategic perspective to design solutions that are secure, maintainable, and aligned with long-term business goals.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, document, and own the overall NetSuite technical architecture, including customizations, workflows, integrations, and data model extensions.
• Lead development of custom solutions using SuiteScript 2.x (and 1.0 where legacy support is required), including User Event, Client, Scheduled, Map/Reduce, RESTlet, and Suitelet scripts.
• Architect and oversee integrations between NetSuite and third-party systems (CRM, EDI, e-commerce, WMS, payroll, banking, etc.) using SuiteTalk (REST/SOAP), RESTlets, and middleware/iPaaS platforms (e.g., Boomi, Celigo, MuleSoft).
• Design and govern SuiteFlow workflows, custom records, custom fields, roles, and permissions in alignment with security and compliance requirements.
• Establish and enforce development standards, coding best practices, version control, code review processes, and deployment/release management (e.g., SDF — SuiteCloud Development Framework).
• Partner with business stakeholders, functional consultants, and solution architects to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs.
• Lead technical design reviews and provide architectural guidance to a team of NetSuite developers/administrators; mentor junior and mid-level developers.
• Own performance tuning, governance limits management (script/API usage), and troubleshooting of complex NetSuite issues.
• Manage NetSuite bundle/SuiteApp evaluation, upgrades, sandbox refreshes, and release testing (including NetSuite's semi-annual release cycles).
• Ensure solutions comply with data security, SOX, and audit requirements where applicable.
• Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and runbooks for all customizations and integrations.
• Participate in the full project lifecycle for NetSuite initiatives: requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.
