nTech Workforce has an #23716 Senior Integration Engineer – Workday & Enterprise Integration
Terms of Employment
· W2 Contract, 6 Months
· 100% Remote Opportunity
Overview
· Our client is seeking a Senior Workday Integration Engineer with deep Workday expertise and strong system-agnostic integration and software engineering fundamentals. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and troubleshooting API-driven integrations between Workday and enterprise platforms. Workday serves as the primary system of record, while Microsoft Power Automate and other orchestration tools act as the execution layers to ensure seamless, deterministic, and highly observable data exchange across enterprise workflows.
Responsibilities
· Design and implement Workday integrations utilizing Workday REST APIs, SOAP APIs (Web Services), data models, and business process logic.
· Construct and troubleshoot XML payloads, API requests, response handling, authentication, security protocols, and integration contexts.
· Build integrations adhering to sound engineering principles, including explicit validation prior to write-back, deterministic execution, predictable outcomes, robust retry strategies, and full observability with logging and audit trails.
· Diagnose complex integration issues by analyzing raw API request and response data, Workday Business Process configurations, and multi-system data sequencing.
· Partner with engineering teams to support enterprise orchestration patterns using Microsoft Power Automate, API layers, and workflow automation platforms.
· Ensure integrations strictly respect system boundaries by allowing Workday to enforce core business rules and approval flows while external systems orchestrate without overriding system-of-record logic
Required Skills & Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
· 4+ years of hands-on Workday integration and software engineering experience across multi-platform environments.
· Deep technical expertise in Workday SOAP APIs (Web Services), Workday REST APIs, object relationships, data models, and Business Process-controlled API behavior.
· Demonstrated ability to manually construct API requests, troubleshoot failures at the raw request/response level, and debug integrations without relying solely on Studio abstraction layers.
· Strong technical mastery of XML structures, namespaces, schema validation, integration security (ISU, ISSG), and API authentication connectivity patterns.
· Proven understanding of core system-agnostic integration patterns, including API-driven architecture, request/response versus event-driven models, and orchestration versus system-of-record boundaries.
· Proven capability in defining validation layers prior to system write-backs, designing safe retry strategies that prevent duplicate or corrupted data, and isolating failures across multi-system workflows.
· Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, and clear technical communication when partnering with engineering teams.
Preferred Skills & Experience
· Experience building automated workflows and orchestration layers using Microsoft Power Automate.
· Familiarity with enterprise middleware, message brokers, or event-driven streaming technologies.
· Workday Integration certifications (such as Workday Pro Integration).
