Senior Microsoft 365 / Exchange Migration Lead - W2 Role Only, AGENCIES/RECRUITERS DO NOT APPLY
BirdsVue LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Microsoft 365 / Exchange Migration Lead to lead the technical implementation, configuration, and migration of Microsoft 365 environments, with primary responsibility for Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange. The individual will own Exchange migration planning and execution, mail-flow configuration, mailbox migration, migration-wave management, cutover planning, and post-migration troubleshooting. The candidate will collaborate with SharePoint, Teams, identity, security, and architecture teams to deliver a reliable and secure Microsoft 365 environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing Exchange environments, including on-premises Exchange, Exchange Online, and hybrid configurations.
- Develop Exchange migration strategies, technical designs, and migration-wave plans.
- Configure Exchange Online, hybrid connectivity, mail-flow connectors, and transport rules.
- Plan and execute mailbox migrations, including mailbox data validation and reconciliation.
- Coordinate DNS configuration and validation for SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
- Configure and troubleshoot Outlook connectivity, mailbox provisioning, and licensing dependencies.
- Develop PowerShell scripts to automate migration, configuration, reporting, and validation activities.
- Prepare migration runbooks, cutover procedures, rollback plans, and production-readiness checklists.
- Execute pilot migrations and production migration waves.
- Troubleshoot authentication, mail-flow, mailbox access, and post-migration issues.
- Coordinate with client stakeholders and other technical workstream leads.
- Maintain technical documentation and participate in knowledge-transfer sessions.
Required Technical Skills
- Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange Online.
- Microsoft 365 tenant administration.
- Hybrid Exchange architecture and migration.
- Exchange mail flow, connectors, and transport rules.
- PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Microsoft Entra ID fundamentals and identity integration.
- DNS, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
- Mailbox migration tools and migration troubleshooting.
- Migration testing, cutover, rollback, and validation procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications relevant to Microsoft 365 administration or messaging.
- Experience with large-scale or tenant-to-tenant migrations.
- Experience supporting enterprise environments.
- Strong technical documentation and customer communication skills.
Deliverables: Exchange migration plan, configuration documentation, migration runbooks, migration status reports, validation results, cutover documentation, and operational handover materials.
