Responsibilities
Day-to-day support
Fix hardware, software, network, and account access issues for a small staff, mostly by remote session
Visit the client office in Spokane when a remote fix does not work
Support both Windows PCs and Macs
Set up and remove staff accounts, devices, and permissions during onboarding and offboarding
Meet agreed response times, including fast response for urgent issues that stop staff from working
GoDaddy migration
Help move website hosting and domain registration off GoDaddy to a better-fit provider
Plan and carry out DNS changes and domain transfer with little or no downtime
Keep Microsoft 365 email working through the whole migration
Document the new setup: accounts, owners, and renewal dates
Security
Help assess the current setup and find security gaps
Set up and maintain endpoint protection, email security, and backups suited to a small budget
Roll out multi-factor authentication, a password manager, and access controls
Explain risks and fixes in plain, non-technical language
Microsoft 365 and asset management
Manage Microsoft 365 users, licenses, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive
Keep an inventory of hardware, software licenses, and accounts
Advise on purchases and renewals and compare pricing options
Log every request and hours used, to support a quarterly summary for the client
Provide light support to the Hillyard Creative District as needed
Required qualifications
Lives in the Spokane area and can reach northeast Spokane for on-site visits
3+ years of IT support for small businesses, nonprofits, or public sector offices
Hands-on Microsoft 365 admin experience (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, licensing)
Has done at least one domain or website hosting migration, including DNS and email records (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
Working knowledge of endpoint security, email security, and backup tools for small offices
Comfortable supporting both Windows and macOS
Explains technical issues clearly to non-technical staff
Reachable by phone and email during business hours for urgent issues
Can pass a background check and agrees to the client's confidentiality terms
Can provide 2 to 3 professional references for IT support work
Preferred qualifications
Experience supporting a city, county, PDA, or other public agency in Washington
Familiarity with grant-funded organizations and audit or records needs
Experience with GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or similar registrar and DNS tools
Microsoft Defender, Intune, or a business password manager (1Password, Bitwarden)
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft 365 Administrator (MS-102)
Already runs a small IT practice with a WA business license
