Audio Visual Systems Engineer - Richmond, TX
iSphere is looking for an Audio Visual Systems Engineer for a long-term onsite opportunity in Richmond.
This role is for someone who knows AV well enough to be the person everyone looks at when the courtroom display goes black, the huddle room refuses to cooperate, or the digital signage system decides today is the day it has opinions.
You will support the design, integration, documentation, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvement of AV systems across courtrooms, huddle rooms, digital signage, and other county environments. The client needs someone who can work comfortably with both AV and IT, because the line between those two worlds gets pretty blurry in modern systems.
You will help design and integrate new audio and video equipment, qualify hardware and software, support cabling and wiring, troubleshoot system issues, and work with third-party vendors when problems cross into their territory.
You will also create and maintain the documentation that keeps these systems supportable, including drawings, parts lists, cable schedules, configuration details, user guides, install guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
What we need:
4+ years of hands-on AV systems experience
Strong knowledge of HDMI, DVI, SDI, AV over IP, and related AV protocols
Experience with Crestron, Extron, QSC, or similar AV technologies
Strong understanding of audio/video signal flow, routing, processing, and control
Experience working with IP-based Ethernet and fiber optic networks for AV distribution
Experience setting up and supporting cameras, audio equipment, displays, and related AV hardware
Strong troubleshooting skills across both AV hardware and software
Ability to create technical drawings, wiring diagrams, system documentation, and support materials
Good understanding of how AV systems integrate with broader IT and networking environments
Strong communication skills with the ability to work with vendors, employees, leadership, and end users
Experience with digital signage, video encoding, graphics, video editing, control programming, and maintaining reusable AV system designs will definitely get our attention.
You may also help define AV standards across departments, recommend upgrades and patches, maintain control design libraries, and improve the way systems are selected, installed, and supported going forward.
The person who does well here will be technical enough to understand why the signal is not getting where it needs to go, organized enough to document how the system was built, and patient enough to explain it to somebody who only knows that "the screen isn't working."
If AV systems, networking, and hands-on troubleshooting are your kind of work, we should talk.
