Description ? SAIC seeks an experienced and energetic
IT Systems Engineer to directly support the modernization of the space launch ranges, meeting mission requirements, providing range capabilities, and supporting the Assured Access to Space (AATS) mission. The overarching purpose of the program is to perform system modernization and digital transformation projects that will enable the acceleration of the space launch cadence to enable the Spaceport of the future. This position is located at Vandenberg SFB, CA.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate requirements into hardware and software specification.
Provides specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements, facility requirements (including floor layout, power cooling, network connectivity), data storage, backup, monitoring, operations systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics or equivalent technical discipline and nine (9) years of IT systems engineering related or equivalent experience or Master's degree in an engineering, mathematics, physics or equivalent technical discipline and seven (7) years of IT systems engineering related or equivalent experience. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Troubleshoot and analysis problems with major systems such as: VMware, storage systems, Windows and *ix systems
Creating and updating tools for automation, including, but not limited to, development of scripts via Powershell, Bash, and Perl
Designing, Developing, and modernizing highly complex information systems
Understanding of security initiatives and vulnerability and patch management
Acts with general direction to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of operational programs
Must have a secret clearance Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Launch, Test, and Range Systems (LTRS) and/or aerospace industries.
Knowledge of LTRS organizations, processes, and technical compliance documentation
Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and data management tools, such as Windchill.
Ability to work with partially defined requirements and changing criteria.
Ability to understand networking schematics and written test procedures.
Experience modernizing systems in a DoD environment
Experience in Information Technology engineering specifically for space launch
Knowledge of Infrastructure tools to ensure optimal performance of computer systems
Prioritization of work into logical capability-based outcomes.
Target salary range: $140,001 - $180,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
