Location: Sterling, Virginia (Onsite)
COMPENSATION: $26 - $36 HOURLY
Role Overview
This position is for a Data Center Technical Operations Engineer responsible for data center engineering operations. The role involves risk management, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, and vendor management. This is a night shift position with a schedule of either Sunday-Tuesday or Wednesday-Friday, with an alternating Saturday, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site management of shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors.
- Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on critical facility operations.
- Collaborate with IT managers and business leaders to coordinate projects and manage capacity.
- Operate and manage routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, and UPS systems.
- Manage power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, and computer room air handlers.
- Oversee building monitoring systems.
- Assist in the design and build-out of new facilities and projects to increase facility efficiency.
- Manage asset and inventory.
- Assist in recruiting efforts.
- Deliver quality service and ensure all customer demands are met.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's Degree or a Technical (Military/Trade School) Degree with relevant experience is required.
Experience: 0-2 years of relevant work experience and 0-2 years of management experience are required.
Skills: Candidates must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, leadership and organizational skills, and strong attention to detail. The ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- 0-2 years of Data Center Engineering Experience.
- 0-2 years of Data Center Management Experience.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
- Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout as well as low voltage (copper/fiber) cabling.
