Overview
We are seeking a Senior Staff Data Scientist to lead strategic analytics, experimentation, and decision science initiatives for emerging customer-facing and platform experiences. This role sits at the intersection of data science, business strategy, customer growth, AI innovation, and executive decision-making.
The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguous, zero-to-one environments and has a proven ability to identify signals from incomplete data, build measurement frameworks, drive experimentation programs, and influence business strategy through data-driven insights.
You will collaborate closely with Product, Marketing, Operations, Customer Experience, and Executive Leadership teams to evaluate new opportunities, define success metrics, optimize customer journeys, and help determine which initiatives should be scaled, refined, or sunset.
This role requires exceptional analytical rigor, strong business acumen, executive-level communication skills, and hands-on expertise in modern analytics and AI-enabled workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Growth Strategy & Opportunity Evaluation
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new customer growth opportunities using quantitative and qualitative insights.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to translate customer behavior, market trends, and business performance into actionable recommendations.
- Support strategic investments through data-driven business cases and opportunity assessments.
Experimentation & Measurement
- Design and lead experimentation programs for emerging products, services, and business initiatives.
- Develop success criteria, leading indicators, KPIs, and measurement frameworks where established benchmarks do not exist.
- Drive hypothesis development, experiment design, A/B testing, causal analysis, and performance evaluation.
Customer Lifecycle Analytics
- Analyze customer behavior across acquisition, activation, engagement, conversion, retention, and long-term value stages.
- Identify operational, product, and customer experience drivers that impact business outcomes.
- Connect insights across customer, operational, and platform data sources.
Analytics & Decision Science
- Build scalable analytical frameworks that link early performance signals to long-term business impact.
- Develop predictive and decision-support models that improve strategic planning and prioritization.
- Deliver actionable recommendations that balance analytical rigor with business realities.
Visualization & Executive Storytelling
- Create executive-facing dashboards, visualizations, and business performance narratives.
- Simplify complex analytical findings into clear recommendations and investment decisions.
- Communicate trade-offs, risks, opportunities, and growth drivers to executive stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as a strategic data science leader across Product, Marketing, Operations, Customer Experience, and Business teams.
- Influence roadmaps, growth strategies, and operating plans through data-driven insights.
- Mentor analysts and data scientists while promoting best practices in experimentation and measurement.
AI & Modern Analytics Enablement
- Leverage AI-powered development and analytics tools to accelerate experimentation and insights generation.
- Establish evaluation frameworks for AI-enabled products and systems.
- Support implementation of advanced analytics, automation, and AI-driven decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Decision Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience influencing executive leadership and strategic business decisions through analytics.
- Strong expertise in experimentation, A/B testing, statistical analysis, causal inference, and measurement frameworks.
- Experience working with ambiguous, zero-to-one products, growth initiatives, or emerging business opportunities.
- Deep understanding of customer acquisition, engagement, retention, lifecycle management, and growth analytics.
- Advanced SQL skills and strong programming experience with Python and/or R.
- Experience building executive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar BI platforms.
- Strong storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analyses into business value.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving Product, Marketing, Operations, and Business stakeholders.
- Strong business judgment and ability to operate in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading or mentoring Data Science teams.
- Background in Consumer Technology, SaaS, Marketplace, FinTech, Digital Products, or Subscription businesses.
- Experience evaluating AI/ML platforms, agentic systems, or AI-enabled customer experiences.
- Experience using AI-powered engineering and analytics tools such as Cursor, Claude, LangSmith, LangFuse, or similar platforms.
