Systems Architect (AWS Cloud Architect)

Location: Tallahassee, Florida
Work Arrangement: Primarily onsite; limited remote flexibility may be available

Position Overview

An enterprise public sector organization is seeking an experienced Systems Architect (AWS Cloud Architect) to support a Cloud Center of Excellence focused on cloud architecture, governance, security, automation, and AWS platform administration.

Work Schedule

Full-time position
Primarily onsite in Tallahassee, FL
Limited remote work may be available
Occasional after-hours support during incidents and outages

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement AWS cloud architectures
Lead cloud modernization and migration initiatives
Develop Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform and CloudFormation
Implement and maintain IAM and cloud security controls
Monitor cloud performance, availability, and cost optimization efforts
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members
Create and maintain architecture diagrams, standards, and operational documentation

Required Qualifications

Strong experience with AWS architecture and administration
Hands-on experience with Terraform
Experience with AWS CloudFormation
Knowledge of cloud security, IAM, and governance best practices
Linux and Windows administration experience
Networking experience including VPCs, DNS, routing, and load balancing
Experience designing highly available and scalable cloud environments

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Azure, OCI, or Google Cloud Platform
DevOps and CI/CD pipeline experience
Cloud cost optimization and governance experience
Experience working within large enterprise or public sector environments
AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of professional IT experience
Experience designing and supporting enterprise cloud infrastructure
