Req: Endpoint Solution architect
Location: Washigton DC
Client is seeking an experienced Principal Architect Field Technology & Endpoint Solutions on behalf of a premier client headquartered in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. In this high-impact enterprise role, you will be responsible for defining and executing the target-state architecture, technical standards, and strategic roadmap for mobility, endpoint, and field-technology platforms that support complex asset management, engineering, maintenance, and operational workflows. Working closely with cross-functional partners in Engineering, Operations, Cybersecurity, Network Infrastructure, and Enterprise Architecture, you will design secure, resilient, and interoperable endpoint environments including rugged devices, kiosks, and shared operational endpoints ensuring frontline workers and operational teams remain connected, productive, and secure even in intermittent or offline environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture Strategy & Roadmap: Define the target-state architecture and long-term capability roadmap for mobile, endpoint, and field technologies supporting Asset Management and Operations.
- Standards & Pattern Development: Establish reusable, enterprise-grade architecture standards and design patterns for corporate, rugged, shared, kiosk, and specialized operational devices.
- Solutions Design for Operations: Architect end-to-end field mobility solutions supporting maintenance, inspections, engineering, asset condition monitoring, and field work execution.
- Enterprise Integration: Design scalable integration patterns connecting mobile solutions with enterprise systems, including Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), ERP, GIS, ITSM, identity management, and document management systems.
- Endpoint Security & Compliance: Define secure architecture across Unified Endpoint Management (UEM/MDM), device compliance, application delivery, Zero Trust Access (ZTNA), Conditional Access, and endpoint protection.
- Resilient Field Connectivity: Design network resilience and connectivity patterns across Wi-Fi, cellular, private LTE/5G, and VPN/ZTNA, prioritizing offline-first architecture and resilient data synchronization for field operations.
- Platform Rationalization: Evaluate and rationalize fragmented mobility platforms, applications, and endpoint devices to drive modernization, efficiency, and cost optimization.
- Architecture Governance: Provide technical governance, lead solution reviews, perform vendor and technology evaluations, and offer architectural guidance across major enterprise mobility initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with business leaders, field operations, engineering, and cybersecurity teams to ensure mobility solutions maximize operational reliability and frontline worker productivity.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, Mobility, Endpoint Management, or Field Technology, including 3+ years in a senior architecture role within a complex, large-scale enterprise environment.
- Endpoint & Mobility Platforms: Deep technical expertise with Unified Endpoint Management (UEM/MDM) solutions such as Microsoft Intune, VMware Workspace ONE, Jamf, or Ivanti.
- Operational & Field Domain Knowledge: Proven experience designing mobility and endpoint solutions for operational workforces, field engineering, maintenance, or asset-heavy industries.
- Enterprise Integration: Strong proficiency in integrating mobile/field apps with core enterprise platforms (EAM, ERP, GIS, ITSM) using modern API and event-driven architectures.
- OS & Hardware Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of multi-OS environments (iOS, Android, Windows) alongside ruggedized devices, kiosk modes, shared-device management, and specialized operational hardware.
- Security & Zero Trust: In-depth knowledge of identity and access management, Conditional Access, Zero Trust security models, PKI, and device compliance frameworks.
- Network & Offline Patterns: Solid grasp of resilient application design, including offline-first data capture, synchronization protocols, Wi-Fi, cellular, private LTE/5G, and remote connectivity architectures.
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate operational field requirements into robust architectural designs.
