A quick look at some of the movement among IT people this week. Hulu named 21st Century Fox Head of Distribution Mike Hopkins Chief Executive Officer. He takes over for acting CEO Andy Forssell, who stepped in to lead the company when Original CEO Jason Kilar left in March. [Bloomberg Businessweek] Twitter added former NBC News Chief Digital Officer Vivian Schiller as Head of News, to serve as a liaison with news agencies. In addition to NBCUniversal, she’s held senior roles at CNN, Discovery, NPR, and The New York Times. While her appointment comes on the heels of controversy over the company’s lack of female board members, sources claim her appointment is unrelated, and that Twitter’s still on the lookout for new female board members. [AllThingsD] Ruchi Sanghvi resigned from her position as Vice President of Operations at Dropbox. Regarding why she’s decided to leave, she said “I’ve been working at breakneck pace and I feel like I need to take some time off.” She joined the company through its acquisition of Cove, which she founded. Before that, she led product and engineering work at Facebook as its first female engineer. [AllThingsD] Following a round of hires for its finance division, Groupon undertook some strategic hiring for its Engineering division. Former Ning Principal Architect and Distinguished Engineer Brian McCallister was added as CTO of Platform; Stephen Deasy, formerly Senior Director of R&D for VMware’s Mobile Platform and Clients Team, was hired as Vice President of Infrastructure and Data Platform; And Former Flipboard Head of Operations Pete Webb was added as Vice President of Global Production Operations. [Dice News] MOOC provider Udacity named Nitin Sharma Vice President of Engineering and Data Science. Previously, he led Data Science at Groupon. Meantime, former Chegg Product Manager Brent Tworetzky was hired as Vice President of Product Management. [AllThingsD] New Zealand-based point-of-sale company Vend hired former Mint and Intuit Executive Anton Commissaris to lead its expansion in the U.S. as President of U.S. Operations. He will lead a small team out of a San Francisco office. [TechCrunch] Catbird, a provider of security and compliance for virtualized and private cloud data centers, named Randal Asay Chief Technology Officer. Formerly, he was Director of Infrastructure Engineering at Walmart, where he implemented communications and security mechanisms to protect sensitive data on a global scale. [Dice News] Wealthfront, a software-based financial advisor, hired Andy Johns as Director of Growth and Revenue. Most recently, he was a growth strategist in residence at Greylock Partners. He’s also held growth and engagement positions at Facebook, Twitter and Quora. [Dice News] Ad sales platform provider isocket appointed Richard Jalichandra to be Chief Executive Officer. He'll start the new role with a focus on company growth. Jalichandra succeeds founding CEO John Ramey, who will continue as Chairman of the Board. [TechCrunch] Online video solutions provider Sorenson Media appointed Marcus Liassides to be President and CEO. Previously, he was Executive Vice President for Specific Media, and before that, President and CEO of Xumo. He succeeds Peter Csathy, who left to lead a new Digital Media group at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips. [Multichannel News] As a result of a simplification of SunGard Financial Systems’ leadership structure, Harold Finders left his position as CEO of Financial Systems. [sungard.com] Chung-Man Tam joined mobile game ad network Chartboost as Chief Product Officer. He starts the new position with a focus on consolidating the company’s products into a single platform. [AllThingsD] Payment software and services provider TransCentra named Kevin Lee President of Software and Technology. He brings more than 15 years of experience in the financial services technology industry, most recently from his position as President and CEO of CRE Secure.
