Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Loan Operations Analyst for a contract opportunity with one of our premier insurance clients in Boston, MA or New York, NY.
Loan Operations Analyst is launching a rated note fund with an operational readiness date of Nov. Several senior members of the Loan Operations team, part of Operational Strategy & Delivery (OS&D) in Global Investment Solutions (GIS), hold the deepest knowledge of the loan servicing environment, and they are the people the launch most needs. This role covers their day-to-day workload so they can be redeployed to the project.
Success in the role is measured by business as usual holding steady against existing service levels rather than by project output. The analyst sits with the Loan Operations team, works closely with its members and with the offshore support team, and follows the team's existing procedures and controls.
The team is newly formed, and the launch is absorbing senior attention, so this role suits someone who ramps from written procedure and a short handoff rather than sustained day-to-day direction.
Key responsibilities
- Process daily loan servicing activity across the private credit portfolio, including agent notices, rate resets and rollovers, drawdowns and delayed draw activity, paydowns, PIK, and interest and fee accrual review.
- Support trade settlement across syndicated and private loan trades, including document review and settlement follow-up.
- Process cash, prepare and confirm wires, and investigate cash breaks.
- Reconcile positions and cash between internal records, agent and custodian records, and the fund administrator, working with each party to clear differences.
- Process lifecycle events, including amendments and corporate actions, and capture changes to loan terms accurately across systems of record.
- Handle exceptions and work with the team on resolution, escalating early and documenting clearly what was done and why.
- Partner with the offshore support team on reconciliation, cash operations and trade operations queues.
- Complete routine reporting and data quality checks on loan and position data.
Qualifications
Required
- 4 to 8 years in loan operations, loan servicing or middle office operations at an asset manager, alternative investment firm, insurer, bank or fund administrator.
- Working knowledge of the syndicated and private loan lifecycle, including agent notice interpretation and rate setting mechanics.
- Familiarity with private credit structures, including revolvers and delayed draw facilities and the operational demands they create.
- Trade settlement experience under LSTA or LMA documentation.
- Reconciliation experience, with a demonstrated ability to research and clear breaks independently.
- Comfortable operating within defined controls and evidencing work for audit.
- Effective collaborator who communicates clearly with team members, agent banks and the fund administrator, and who asks rather than assumes when something looks wrong.
- Strong Excel skills.
Preferred
- WSO experience, or Allvue, eFront or a comparable loan administration platform.
- Exposure to IBOR and ABOR environments.
- Prior experience covering for a team during a project period, with a fast ramp.
- Experience working alongside an offshore delivery team.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini in an operations context.
