Role Overview
This position is for a Senior Enterprise Monitoring & Event Management Engineer responsible for the design, administration, integration, automation, and support of enterprise monitoring and event management platforms. The role serves as a technical subject matter expert for IBM Netcool Operations Insight (NOI), event correlation, alert automation, monitoring integrations, ServiceNow event management, and enterprise observability solutions. The engineer will design and maintain monitoring solutions across infrastructure, applications, databases, and cloud environments while driving automation and platform modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- * Perform platform upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and lifecycle management.
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise event management and correlation solutions.
- Build and optimize Netcool probes, gateways, automation policies, rules, and event processing workflows.
- Develop alarm correlation, suppression, enrichment, and root cause analytics.
- Administer and support IBM Netcool Operations Insight (NOI) environments, maintaining platform health, availability, and performance.
- Design monitoring solutions for servers, databases, network devices, cloud platforms, and applications.
- Design and support integrations between monitoring platforms and ServiceNow.
- Develop and support integrations using REST, SOAP, SNMP, Syslog, and custom APIs.
- Develop event-driven automation, remediation workflows, and self-healing capabilities.
- Participate in on-call rotation and critical incident response activities.
Required Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience is required, including 5+ years supporting enterprise monitoring or event management platforms.
Technical Skills:- IBM Netcool NOI / OMNIbus experience or a closely related enterprise event management platform.
- Linux administration and troubleshooting.
- Scripting experience with Shell, Python, or Perl.
- Experience with SNMP, Syslog, and REST integrations.
- ServiceNow integration experience.
- Knowledge of event correlation, suppression, and automation.
- Enterprise production support and on-call experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Dynatrace, Splunk, or SolarWinds.
- Knowledge of VMware, Oracle, or Ansible.
- Experience with ServiceNow ITOM.
- Utility industry experience or experience in a SOX-regulated environment.
- Knowledge of ITIL framework.
- Experience with CMDB integrations and Event Management architecture.
