JOB DESCRIPTION
OverviewThe SL1 Project Manager owns delivery of complex programs and keeps that work connected to product strategy, roadmap priorities, and customer outcomes. This role combines project management discipline with product ownership, lifecycle management, and coordination across business, engineering, and operations.
The role requires experience leading medium-to-large initiatives, a solid technical foundation, and the ability to work through ambiguity, competing priorities, and changing customer needs. Success depends on spotting risks early, making practical tradeoffs, and balancing business goals, product priorities, and technical constraints.
Core Responsibilities
Project and Delivery Management
Lead planning, execution, and delivery within approved scope, schedule, and budget.
Coordinate project activities, resources, governance, and day-to-day execution.
Ensure alignment to Statement of Work (SOW), contractual commitments, and technical objectives.
Identify and manage dependencies, risks, and critical path activities.
Create and maintain detailed project schedules using MS Project or equivalent tools.
Manage project startup and closeout activities, including checklists, QA reviews, and governance requirements.
Escalate issues when needed and help stakeholders address risks before they affect delivery. Product Management and Lifecycle Integration
Translate business requirements into product capabilities, features, and technical requirements.
Partner with Product Management to align project delivery with product roadmap and strategic priorities.
Support feature prioritization, backlog grooming, and release planning in coordination with engineering teams.
Keep delivered solutions aligned to target architecture, standards, and long-term scalability needs.
Support offer development and launch readiness, including pricing, positioning, and documentation.
Bring delivery feedback back into product improvements, roadmap updates, and new opportunities.
Confirm solutions support customer use cases, market needs, and competitive positioning. Customer and Stakeholder Management
Support customer satisfaction through consistent, reliable delivery outcomes.
Manage executive and client expectations throughout the lifecycle.
Serve as the main point of coordination between customers, product teams, engineering, and operations.
Communicate risks, issues, and status updates clearly and proactively. Quality, Governance and Operational Excellence
Follow project management standards, processes, and QA practices.
Review and approve deliverables prior to client submission.
Make sure deliverables meet SOW requirements and internal quality expectations.
Improve processes, tools, and delivery methods over time. Change and Risk Management
Manage scope changes through the right governance and stakeholder alignment.
Identify risks early and create mitigation or backup plans.
Balance tradeoffs across timeline, cost, scope, and product impact. Key Success Attributes
Strong project and program management expertise in complex environments.
Working knowledge of product development lifecycle approaches, including Agile, SAFe, or hybrid models.
Ability to bridge business, product, and technical domains.
Comfortable working through ambiguity and driving results.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. First 90 Days Focus
Build a strong understanding of the FedGov SL1 program, including the technical architecture and delivery model.
Learn the operational processes, governance model, and change control approach.
Align with Product and Engineering teams on current roadmap, backlog priorities, and release cycles.
Identify early process gaps, delivery risks, and product improvement areas.
Build credibility with stakeholders across Product, Sales, Operations, and Customer teams.
