Advantage Technical is hiring an Automotive Systems Engineer to lead the architecture and development of next-generation vehicle features for a leading global automotive OEM in Dearborn, MI. This is a systems engineering and feature development role, not software testing or validation - ideal for someone who wants to own features from concept through production.

What You'll Do (Job Duties) Translate customer and business needs into system requirements, functional specifications, and logical architectures. Develop system architectures and define feature behavior across software, electrical, mechanical, and vehicle integration teams. Write engineering requirements and build System Boundary Diagrams, DFMEAs, and verification plans. Conduct functional safety and cybersecurity assessments and support software implementation using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
What You Bring (Requirements)Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of Automotive Systems Engineering experience and 3 years supporting complex embedded systems.
Experience writing engineering requirements and functional specifications, creating DFMEAs and System Boundary Diagrams, and strong understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model.
Experience developing vehicle features from concept through production and strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, including networking, wiring, power distribution, body systems, and CAN communication.
Preferred Experience
- Master's degree in an related engineering field.
- 5+ years of Automotive Systems Engineering experience.
- Experience leading feature development through the full product lifecycle, developing logical architectures with MBSE tools, performing Functional Safety and Cybersecurity assessments, and leading cross-functional teams through technical trade-off discussions.
