Technical Project Manager
Our client is seeking a mid-to-senior level Technical Project Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of technology initiatives spanning software development, infrastructure, security, SaaS implementations, data, and compliance. This role is ideal for a technically minded PM who can do more than coordinate meetings — someone who can understand the work, break complex business needs into actionable plans, ask the right technical questions, drive accountability, and own execution from planning through delivery. The selected candidate will work closely with technical teams, vendors, business stakeholders, and leadership while managing multiple concurrent initiatives.
Daily Tasks & Key Responsibilities
Primary responsibility: Lead complex technology initiatives while relieving technical teams of project planning, reporting, coordination, and administrative responsibilities.
- Lead and manage technology projects across software development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data, SaaS implementations, and compliance.
- Support a multi-year NIST security compliance initiative and ongoing network and storage infrastructure projects.
- Partner with technical teams and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into actionable tasks, workstreams, milestones, and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Drive execution using Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies depending on the project.
- Lead daily standups, planning sessions, reviews, status meetings, and steering committee discussions.
- Work directly with vendors and technical resources to ask appropriate questions, clarify responsibilities, assign ownership, and track completion.
- Understand enough of the underlying technology to participate meaningfully in technical conversations and identify gaps or risks.
- Manage multiple concurrent initiatives while balancing priorities, resources, and organizational dependencies.
- Coordinate project activities across application development, data, infrastructure, security, business analysis, and third-party teams.
- Support software implementation and technical delivery initiatives from planning through production.
- Create and communicate project status reports, dashboards, metrics, schedule updates, and executive-level summaries.
- Identify risks and impediments early and drive mitigation plans to resolution.
- Manage dependencies across teams and negotiate sequencing when competing priorities arise.
- Track post-release incidents and coordinate root-cause and corrective-action activities when needed.
- Facilitate requirements discussions and help ensure business needs are clearly documented and understood by technical teams.
- Partner with Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Process Leads on project scope, priorities, and delivery.
- Promote strong communication and accountability across technical and business teams.
- Maintain knowledge of project decisions, integrations, dependencies, risks, and the critical path rather than relying solely on team members for status.
- Provide servant leadership while encouraging collaboration, continuous improvement, and ownership across project teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience leading technology projects in software, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data, Cloud, or related IT environments.
- Strong technology delivery background with experience managing technical implementations on a day-to-day basis.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with software developers, infrastructure engineers, security teams, architects, and other technical resources.
- Experience translating business requirements into actionable technical work and deliverables.
- Strong understanding of software development and infrastructure delivery lifecycles.
- Experience managing projects using Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and/or hybrid methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, and status reporting.
- Ability to understand technical concepts well enough to ask effective questions and participate in solution-oriented conversations.
- Strong ownership mentality with the ability to proactively identify next steps rather than simply facilitate meetings.
- Experience managing vendors and third-party technology partners.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills across technical teams, business users, and leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and competing priorities.
- Ability to explain project status, critical path, risks, and schedule variances clearly to leadership.
