Drives Controls Engineer
Erie, PA: Onsite
The SOW Drives Control Engineers shall be responsible for all tasks and deliverables related to locomotive, OHV propulsion and auxiliary drive control system development, including control algorithm design, software requirements development, model-based implementation, integration, verification, and validation activities. The Drives Control Engineers shall work closely with Wabtec Systems, Software, Power Electronics, and Verification teams to develop, maintain, and enhance locomotive drive control functionality.
A. Scope: Documentation of Existing Drives Control Features
Inputs:
Existing concept, detailed design, and V&V review materials
Control software requirements specifications
Detailed design documentation
Existing Matlab/Simulink models, C/C++ control code
Existing software implementations
Verification reports and test results
Tasks:
Analyze existing control designs and software implementations
Review existing control models and requirements
Perform desktop simulations and verification activities
Update design documentation and requirements
Conduct design reviews and incorporate review feedback

B. Scope: Integration and Baseline Merging of Existing Drives Control Features

Merge subsystem control functionality into production software baselines
Update requirements and control models/software
Resolve integration issues
Execute regression and verification testing

C. Scope: Full Lifecycle Development of New Drives Control Features

Define interfaces with propulsion, braking, auxiliary, and supervisory systems
Control Development
Develop and modify Matlab/Simulink and Stateflow control models
Develop: Motor control algorithms, Converter and inverter controls, Torque and speed regulation functions, Protection functions, Diagnostic and fault management functions, Power management functions
Verification: Develop test vectors, Execute desktop simulation testing, Support SIL and HITL verification
Support locomotive laboratory and field validation testing
Documentation: Detailed Design Specification, Software Requirements Specification, Verification and Validation Plans
