Role: Senior Google Cloud Platform Cloud Solutions Architect
Location: Albany, NY- Hybrid
Duration: One year contract with likely possibility of extensions
Position Overview
IRG Clients is seeking an Expert-Level Systems Architect with extensive experience designing, implementing, securing, and supporting scalable cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform architecture, cloud infrastructure, security, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, performance optimization, cost management, and technical leadership. The candidate should be capable of providing architectural guidance to large technical teams and serving as a subject-matter expert in Google Cloud Platform and cloud architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective Google Cloud Platform solutions based on client and business requirements.
- Develop high-level and detailed technical designs covering network topology, data flow, system components, interfaces, security controls, and disaster recovery.
- Evaluate and select appropriate Google Cloud Platform services and technologies for specific business and technical requirements.
- Lead the implementation and deployment of cloud solutions within Google Cloud Platform environments.
- Design and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or similar Google Cloud deployment technologies.
- Configure and manage Google Cloud Platform services, including virtual machines, containers, databases, storage, networking, and other cloud infrastructure components.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated application and infrastructure deployment.
- Implement strong Google Cloud Platform security controls, including IAM, network security, encryption, access management, and threat detection.
- Ensure cloud solutions comply with applicable security and regulatory requirements, including IRS Publication 1075, GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS, as applicable.
- Collaborate with security teams on security reviews, vulnerability assessments, risk mitigation, and compliance activities.
- Monitor cloud applications and infrastructure and implement performance tuning and optimization.
- Develop and implement Google Cloud Platform cost-management and optimization strategies, including resource rightsizing, utilization optimization, and cost allocation.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to development, DevOps, infrastructure, and operations teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in Google Cloud Platform, cloud architecture, automation, security, and operations.
- Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, developers, security teams, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to Google Cloud Platform services, cloud infrastructure, applications, and networking.
- Provide ongoing support and maintenance for deployed cloud solutions.
- Participate in on-call rotations and critical incident response when required.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, technical designs, implementation guides, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience designing and architecting client-specific solutions using Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
- 7+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform services, including cloud solution implementation and deployment.
- 7+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Google Cloud deployment technologies.
- 7+ years of experience designing and implementing Google Cloud Platform security solutions, including IAM, network security, encryption, threat detection, and compliance.
- 7+ years of experience monitoring cloud applications and infrastructure and implementing performance optimization strategies.
- 7+ years of experience diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues related to Google Cloud Platform services and cloud applications.
- 5+ years of experience providing technical leadership and guidance to development and operations teams.
- 5+ years of experience mentoring engineers and collaborating with cross-functional technical and business teams.
- 5+ years of experience creating and maintaining technical documentation for architectures, designs, and implementations.
- 7+ years of overall systems/cloud architecture experience preferred.
