Role Overview
The Technical Product Manager (TPM) will act as the strategic onsite liaison bridging the Field Operations business unit and IT delivery teams. Functioning as an "extended arm" of the business, this role is responsible for shaping high-level field service ideas into actionable product roadmaps, defining strict execution standards, and ensuring the technical team delivers maximum value to dispatchers and field crews. The TPM will drive process optimization, manage the Agile lifecycle via SAP Azure DevOps (ADO), and act as the definitive authority on product acceptance and release readiness.
Strategic & Core Responsibilities
Business Liaison & Ideation: Partner directly with Field Operations leadership and stakeholders to deeply understand operational pain points out in the field. Shape abstract business ideas, mobility enhancements, and efficiency goals into clearly defined functional Epics.
Agile Leadership & ADO Governance: Drive Agile methodologies utilizing SAP Azure DevOps (ADO). Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business value. Establish, enforce, and govern a rigorous 'Definition of Done' (DoD) for all deliverables before business review.
Delivery Orchestration: Collaborate tightly with offshore Business Analysts and technical implementation teams. Translate the field operations vision so the technical team understands the 'why' behind the requirements, ensuring seamless implementation.
Process Streamlining & Efficiency: Champion continuous improvement. Proactively identify process bottlenecks within dispatching, asset management, and crew routing workflows. Design and propose streamlined operational procedures.
UAT & Business Sign-Off: Lead sprint reviews and milestone demonstrations. Facilitate comprehensive User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with field supervisors and dispatchers, ensuring solutions meet the DoD, and obtain formal business sign-off.
Domain Expertise & Technical Qualifications
Utilities Field Ops Experience: Deep functional knowledge of Field Operations within the Utilities sector. Extensive background in work order management, crew dispatching, asset lifecycle management, and field mobility applications.
SAP Ecosystem Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), SAP Plant Maintenance (PM), SAP Work Manager, or related mobile field service solutions.
Agile/ADO Proficiency: Expertise in managing backlogs, epics, features, and sprint planning within SAP Azure DevOps (ADO).
Communication & Leadership: Executive-level communication skills with the ability to negotiate scope, manage stakeholder expectations, and drive consensus between field operations and technical doma
