About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Critical Facility Shift Lead to provide shift-level operational leadership for a mission-critical data center environment. The role coordinates critical facility activities, maintains plant-status visibility, leads initial incident response, controls approved procedures and changes, and ensures safe, reliable operations throughout the assigned shift.
Key Responsibilities :
Shift Operations
- Lead all critical facility activities during the assigned shift.
- Maintain oversight of electrical, mechanical, cooling, and Building Management System (BMS) infrastructure.
- Manage formal shift handover, plant status, alarms, outstanding work, and operational logs.
Team Coordination
- Coordinate Electrical, Mechanical, and BMS teams during shift activities.
- Provide operational direction and ensure activities follow approved procedures and priorities.
Incident Response & Escalation
- Lead initial response, troubleshooting, isolation, and escalation for critical incidents.
- Coordinate recovery activities and maintain accurate incident timelines and operational records.
SOP/MOP/EOP & Change Control
- Control execution of approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
- Ensure approved facility changes have required prerequisites, risk controls, communication, and rollback arrangements.
Safety, PTW & LOTO
- Enforce Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), equipment isolation, and safe working procedures.
- Stop or escalate work where unacceptable safety or operational risk is identified.
OEM & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate OEM, contractor, and specialist vendor activities during the shift.
- Verify work authorization, procedure compliance, completion testing, documentation, and operational handback.
Capacity, Redundancy & Equipment Risk
- Monitor facility capacity, redundancy, alarms, and equipment health.
- Escalate risks affecting power, cooling, resilience, capacity, or equipment availability.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Facilities Engineering, CDCP or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Typically 5+ years of experience in data center or mission-critical facility operations.
- Practical knowledge of UPS, generators, switchgear, power distribution, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, BMS, and fire protection systems.
- Hands-on experience with PTW, LOTO, SOP/MOP/EOP execution, incident response, and change control.
- Ability to lead operational response during critical events and work within a 24x7 rotational shift environment.
