Responsibilities:Deploys the release of new technologies as well as designs, installs, configures, maintains and performs system integration testing of PC/server operating systems, related utilities and hardware.Responsible for trouble shooting server problems as reported by users. Researches, evaluates and recommends software and hardware products. Supports Web access and electronic messaging services and maintains a secure systems environment.Provides new hardware specifications to users based on application needs and anticipated growth, installs new servers and maintains the server infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation & ConfigurationInstall and configure IBM MQ software on various platforms (Windows, Linux, Unix, AIX)Set up queue managers, queues, channels, and listenersConfigure clustering and high availability solutionsImplement security protocols and SSL/TLS configurationsSet up multi-instance queue managers for failover capabilities
2. Administration & MaintenanceMonitor queue depths, channel status, and system performanceManage message flow and resolve message build-upsPerform regular health checks and system auditsApply patches, updates, and version upgradesMaintain message retention policies and archiving strategiesConfigure dead letter queues and error handling
3. Security ManagementImplement authentication and authorization controlsConfigure Channel Authentication Records (CHLAUTH)Manage user access and permissionsSet up SSL/TLS certificates for secure communicationsEnsure compliance with security policies and standardsConduct regular security audits

5. Troubleshooting & SupportDiagnose and resolve connectivity issuesInvestigate message delivery failuresAnalyze error logs (AMQERR01.LOG, FDC files)Provide 24/7 on-call support (as required)Work with application teams to resolve integration issuesEscalate complex issues to IBM support
6. Backup & RecoveryImplement backup strategies for queue manager dataPerform disaster recovery testingDocument recovery proceduresMaintain business continuity plansRestore queue managers and configurations when needed
7. Documentation & ReportingCreate and maintain technical documentationDocument standard operating proceduresGenerate performance and availability reportsMaintain configuration management databasesTrack incidents and change requests
8. CollaborationWork with development teams on integration requirementsCoordinate with network teams for connectivity issuesParticipate in architecture and design discussionsProvide guidance on messaging best practicesSupport application deployments
Qualifications:IBM MQ (Message Queue) Administrator, who is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of IBM MQ messaging middleware infrastructure.This role ensures reliable message delivery between applications and systems across the enterprise.
