MQ Architect || Remote || W2 & C2C

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced MQ Architect with strong AWS expertise to design, architect, and implement highly available enterprise messaging solutions using IBM MQ and AWS cloud services. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IBM MQ architecture, messaging patterns, integration, cloud migration, security, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.

The candidate will work closely with application, integration, cloud, DevOps, security, and infrastructure teams to modernize enterprise messaging platforms and migrate IBM MQ workloads to AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect enterprise-grade IBM MQ solutions across on-premises and AWS environments.
• Lead IBM MQ to AWS cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
• Design highly available and fault-tolerant MQ architectures using AWS infrastructure.
• Configure and manage IBM MQ Queue Managers, Queues, Channels, Listeners, Clusters, and MQ Clients.
• Design MQ HA, disaster recovery, backup, and recovery strategies.
• Architect secure messaging solutions using AWS VPC, IAM, Security Groups, KMS, CloudWatch, EC2, S3, and related services.
• Develop architecture standards, reference architectures, deployment patterns, and technical documentation.
• Integrate IBM MQ with enterprise applications, APIs, microservices, and other messaging platforms.
• Design and implement MQ clustering, multi-instance queue managers, distributed messaging, and failover solutions.
• Analyze MQ performance, throughput, latency, capacity, and resource utilization.
• Implement monitoring and observability using AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools.
• Establish MQ security standards including TLS/SSL, certificates, authentication, authorization, and access controls.
• Troubleshoot complex MQ connectivity, message-flow, performance, and availability issues.
• Work with DevOps teams to automate MQ infrastructure provisioning and deployments.
• Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Define operational procedures for MQ monitoring, patching, upgrades, backup, recovery, and capacity management.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to MQ administrators and engineers.
• Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to evaluate new messaging and cloud technologies.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in IBM MQ / WebSphere MQ.
• Strong expertise in IBM MQ architecture and administration.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Queue Managers
  • Local/Remote/Transmission Queues
  • Channels and Listeners
  • MQ Clusters
  • MQ Client
  • Message routing
  • Dead Letter Queues
  • Channel Authentication Records (CHLAUTH)
  • MQ security
• Strong AWS cloud architecture experience.
• Hands-on experience with AWS EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, KMS, CloudWatch, and networking.
• Experience designing HA and DR architectures for IBM MQ.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, networking, firewalls, load balancing, and security.
• Experience with TLS/SSL certificates and PKI.
• Experience with scripting and automation using Shell, Python, or PowerShell.
• Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills.
