Position Summary
We are seeking a Varicent Developer with strong experience in incentive compensation platforms, data modeling, and system modernization. The individual will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing Varicent solutions, translating business requirements into scalable technical configurations, and supporting ongoing enhancements to compensation models, workflows, and reporting capabilities.
This role requires deep hands-on Varicent expertise, strong SQL skills, and the ability to work with Python-based automation and integrations within the Varicent ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain Varicent models, calculations, compensation rules, workflows, reports, and dashboards.
• Translate business and compensation requirements into scalable technical solutions within Varicent.
• Build and optimize effective-dated compensation structures, calendars, and historical processing logic.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to calculations, data feeds, performance, and reporting.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to refine requirements and validate solutions.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and knowledge transfer materials.
• Support platform modernization efforts, including process optimization and technical debt reduction.
• Contribute to code reviews, testing, deployment activities, and ongoing platform enhancements.
• Assist with integration development and automation initiatives leveraging Python and SQL.
Required Qualifications
Varicent Development
• 3-5+ years of hands-on Varicent development experience.
• Strong experience building and maintaining:
· Compensation calculations and formulas
· Workflows and approval processes
· Reports and dashboards
· Calendars and effective-dating logic
· Data models and metadata configuration
• Experience troubleshooting complex compensation and data-processing scenarios.
SQL & Data Management
• Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
• Experience analyzing source data, debugging data issues, and validating compensation calculations.
• Understanding of data transformations, data quality processes, and performance optimization.
Python Development
• Experience developing, modifying, and supporting Python scripts used for automation, integrations, and data processing.
• Ability to troubleshoot and enhance existing scripts.
• Experience building new Python-based utilities and automation solutions is preferred.
Technical Design & Documentation
• Experience creating technical design documents, solution specifications, implementation guides, and support documentation.
• Ability to document complex business logic, data flows, and system configurations clearly for distributed development teams.
Software Engineering Fundamentals
• Strong understanding of programming concepts, data structures, system design, and software development best practices.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments and collaborating across business and technical teams.
