Job Overview for Quality Assurance Technician
The Lee Group is looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to work with one of our valued clients in Suffolk, VA. Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for analytical testing, associated data, and routine production verification.
This position works closely with other departments to identify opportunities to develop and improve processes while helping ensure consistent product quality, food safety, and compliance. The ideal candidate has quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to investigate quality issues and support corrective actions.
Job Responsibilities of Quality Assurance Technician
- Perform audits and testing from the raw material stage through finished product to ensure quality standards are met.
- Provide technical support focused on consumer requirements, continuous product quality, productivity requirements, quality assurance, and measurement analysis.
- Monitor product processing, consistency, and packaging integrity through analytical testing, sensory evaluation, product and ingredient sampling, and documentation.
- Respond to quality noncompliance and document investigations, findings, root cause analysis, and situations occurring during the shift.
- Place products that do not meet specifications on hold by generating required hold documentation and distributing it to appropriate personnel.
- Assist with the disposition of held products as needed.
- Maintain the QA Hold system daily.
- Maintain daily retention sample procedures for finished goods.
- Maintain laboratory inventory, including tools, supplies, and chemicals.
- Ensure measurement and analysis equipment is functional and routinely calibrated.
- Monitor and respond to process operating guidelines while complying with GMP and safety policies.
- Assist with routine and situational GMP and food safety inspections, exercises, systems, and investigations involving quality, food safety, or security concerns.
- Perform testing and sampling from raw materials through finished products.
- Conduct sensory evaluations, including cupping.
Job Qualifications of Quality Assurance Technician
- High school diploma, GED, or Technical Trade School Certificate required.
- Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- HACCP and SQF training and certification are highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Ability to effectively investigate quality concerns and develop corrective actions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong facilitation skills.
- Ability to comply with applicable Federal, State, corporate, warehouse, and food safety standards, policies, and guidelines, including HACCP, GMP, SQF, and FDA requirements.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements of Quality Assurance Technician
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be willing and able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Must be able to meet the physical, environmental, and mental requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Frequent lifting, bending, and walking are required.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.
