POSITION: Controls Principal Engineer (PDC Design)
Location: Tulsa, OK (onsite)
Schedule: M-F, 8-5
Salary: $120,000 - $140,000
Job Description Overview
Our client is in search of a Controls Principal Engineer that will plan, organize, and supervise the technical development of their modular power distribution centers (PDCs) control systems. Our client''s modular PDC designs are comprised of three main components, the mechanical building construction, the electrical power arrangement, and the electrical control configuration. The candidate for this position will be an individual contributor that will elevate API’s electrical control capabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Maintain an understanding of the National Fire Protection Association standards to ensure the company’s designs are up-to-code.
· Review proposals to identify potential gaps in API’s current capability and to strategize electrical control designs based on customer specifications.
· Review and approve outgoing electrical control designs.
· Respond to technical information requests from different functions of the company (Applications, Estimations, Quality, Project Management, Electrical Engineering, etc.).
· Review and provide understanding of customer and vendor control drawings.
· Manage and elevate the company’s electrical control capabilities.

- Develop design and review standards
- Create design and review templates
- Lead quality management efforts
- Determine corrective actions
- Identify and track Key Performance Indexes
Required Skills and Abilities
· Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
· Experience in electrical control design is required.
· Experience in protection and control systems is desired.
· Experience in medium voltage systems is preferred.
· Experience with design engineering in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
· Proficiency with National Electrical Code, NFPA79 is preferred.
· UL 508A Manufacturer Technical Representative (MTR) certification is required or obtained within 12 months of start.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field required.
Certifications and Licenses
· Professional Engineer License, preferred
