Position Details
The position functions as a senior information technology analyst responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing a variety of automated data warehouse applications located on the State of Michigan s Teradata Data Warehouse platform. The position will represent the team and coordinate team activities with other data warehouse teams on complex, multi-team projects. In addition, the position will work with other data warehouse developers to review existing data warehouse policies and practices, modify them as needed, or propose new polices or practices.
This position is part of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)Data Warehouse Team. Knowledge of SQL, Business Intelligence tools, and experience with the relational database is required to help develop and maintain DHHS data warehouse ETL and queries.

Required Skills:
Bachelor s degree or equivalent technical study
6+Years Creating Data Warehouse BI applications including ETL/data Mart development, reporting, dashboards and other information analysis and delivery system.
2+ Years Child Welfare Services, Juvenile Justice, Juvenile services, or other related experience
Additional Skills:
Experience with the State of Michigan PMM/SUITE/Agile methodology
SQL Assistant/Teradata Studio Experience, BI applications
End-user training experience
Must be able to work independently with little directions
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with programmers, analysts, immediate supervisor, management, system users, operations, other State agencies and the private sector.
Meet with users for clarification and elaboration as may be necessary to clearly define a problem and conceptualize a development plan.
Recognize, gather, correlate, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and devise solutions and alternatives and make appropriate recommendations.
Experience working with Data Modelers and developers, facilitating modification of theological design to create a physical design most suited to the reporting needs of the customer.
Ability to design applications taking into consideration data reconciliation, (to the source system) query/reporting performance, and analytical business value.
With the Business Analyst, presents the information gathered to the Project Review Board and/or Project Sponsors during project review meetings, project workgroups and to the Technical Review Board providing clarification and answers to questions.
Consult with agency clients to explain complex IT processes and solutions, developing and maintaining an effective communication plan with DTMB and agency clients relating to project level metrics, bureau level project reporting, etc.
Assist Architect or DBA to draft technical database model that:
o Complies with audit separation of duty requirement.
o Captures requirements of data elements
o Designs data elements to best meet application needs
o Reviews and approves updates to systems documentation.
Gather, review, and analyze potential impacts of changes and inform DTMB management and supported client agency of impact and risks to existing IT solutions due to proposed legislation, enhancement requests, changes in government requests, changes in governmental processes or procedures.
Provide professional technical expertise to the DTMB AS PMO Managers and client agency managers and supervisors in IT project estimating, and budgeting.
Serves as a team lead and resource, directing the code development, providing advice and guidance to other development staff.
Evaluate and identify opportunities for programming process or tools standardization.
Perform disaster recovery planning and implementation.
Provide input to procedures and ensure proper change management for all requested fixes to production systems.
Review and approve test plans. Incorporate all levels of security, which were identified as system requirements, into test plans.
