Learning & Development Specialist

The Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist designs, delivers, and continuously improves learning initiatives that build employee capability, drive performance, and support business outcomes. This role is central to onboarding, leadership development, compliance training, and ongoing professional growth across the organization.
Working closely with leadership and key stakeholders, the L&D Specialist assesses learning needs, develops impactful training programs, and measures effectiveness to ensure learning initiatives align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all learning and development inquiries, providing expert guidance and resources to employees and managers.
- Design and implement structured learning journeys for operational and leadership roles, addressing skill gaps, performance needs, and career progression.
- Develop, manage, and track mandatory and compliance-related training programs, including DOT Reasonable Suspicion Training for managers.
- Partner with leaders and stakeholders to assess learning needs and recommend innovative, scalable learning solutions.
- Coordinate with internal facilitators and external vendors to deliver learning programs on time and within scope.
- Lead onboarding programs for new Operations Managers, ensuring successful integration into company culture, systems, and role expectations.
- Facilitate orientation sessions covering company policies, procedures, and organizational structure.
- Provide ongoing coaching, tools, and resources to managers to support performance and leadership effectiveness.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance onboarding and training programs using feedback, metrics, and performance outcomes.
- Act as the onboarding ambassador for new Operations and Corporate employees, guiding them through onboarding milestones and setting up Smartsheet mentorship workflows.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for new hires, promotions, role changes, and departures to ensure smooth transitions.
- Leverage digital tools and systems to generate, analyze, and share L&D metrics, highlighting progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
- Communicate training requirements, deadlines, and completion status to stakeholders to ensure compliance and engagement.
- Support training logistics and delivery, including venue coordination, materials preparation, and virtual session facilitation (e.g., chat moderation, polls, breakout rooms).
- Maintain awareness of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and learning trends to ensure organizational readiness and competitiveness.
- Develop and curate engaging, accessible learning materials tailored to diverse employee audiences.
- Maintain accurate records of learning activities to meet internal policies and external regulatory standards.
- Collect and analyze participant feedback to continuously improve learning experiences.
- Support the broader L&D team with training initiatives, strategic projects, and learning events.
- Compile and distribute regular reports on training completion, overdue courses, and upcoming requirements.
- Travel to operational sites as needed to deliver on-site training.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in learning and development, training facilitation, or a related role. Specifically with Articulate Storyline and RISE.
- Experience with creating eLearnings for onboarding and safety for new hires
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training development tools.
- Experience with instructional design, e-learning platforms, and blended learning approaches.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret learning data and produce actionable reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with employees and leaders at all levels.
- Experience using Smartsheet, HRIS, and other talent development systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook).
- Demonstrated ability to independently facilitate engaging learning experiences.
- Solid understanding of formal, informal, social, and experiential learning methodologies.
- Experience with Storybook, Storytelling, RISE Review, Reach or Navex nice to have.
The compensation range for this position is $60K to $65K + bonus and benefits
(dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
