Sr. Java Application Developer

We are seeking a Senior Application Developer with strong Java expertise to modernize and maintain up to three mission-critical legacy systems. This role focuses on upgrading applications from Java/JDK 8 to Java/JDK 21 and beyond, ensuring stability, security, and long-term maintainability. The developer will play a key role in system modernization, operational support, and seamless integration with existing enterprise infrastructure.

Position Responsibilities

• Lead and execute Java application upgrades, addressing deprecated features, compatibility issues, and modernization best practices.
• Design, enhance, and maintain applications using Java, OOP principles, Servlets, JSP, JavaBeans, SQL Server, and related technologies.
• Modernize user interfaces using JavaScript, jQuery, Knockout.js, HTML, and CSS.
• Develop and maintain RESTful web services, JSON-based integrations, and secure file handling.
• Implement and support CI/CD pipelines using Maven/Gradle and tools such as Azure DevOps or GitLab.
• Provide operations and maintenance support, including performance monitoring, JVM tuning, logging, incident response, and runbook creation.
• Apply secure coding practices and remediate vulnerabilities such as CSRF, SQL injection, XSS, and reflection attacks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver upgrades on schedule and support on-call and incident management activities.

Position Qualifications

• Proven experience upgrading Java applications across multiple major versions, including Java 8 to modern JDK releases.
• Strong knowledge of Spring, Spring MVC, Hibernate/JPA, Windows authentication, SSL, session management, and SSO.
• Proficiency with build and dependency management tools (Maven/Gradle) and Git-based version control.
• Experience with application servers (Tomcat, WebSphere, WildFly) and enterprise integrations (SQL Server, messaging systems).
• Solid understanding of application performance monitoring, logging, JVM tuning, and security patching.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a production environment.
