Our client is a global luxury hospitality chain focussed on providing world-class guest experiences at all of their 1,000+ locations across the globe. They are seeking an AWS Solutions Architect to be a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, building, and governing the enterprise data platform on AWS. This role works day to day with data engineering, data science, and application teams to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and reliable data solutions.
This is not a purely strategic or diagram-only role. You will actively contribute to implementation, troubleshooting, and automation while setting architectural standards and guardrails across the organization.
What You ll Do Day to Day
Design & Architecture
- Partner with data engineers, data scientists, and product managers to understand data and analytics requirements.
- Design end-to-end data solutions including ingestion, storage, processing, and consumption.
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, standards, and reference patterns for the enterprise data platform.
- Select appropriate AWS services and data technologies based on performance, cost, security, and scalability needs.
Hands-On AWS & Data Platform Engineering
- Build and support data pipelines (batch and streaming) using AWS services such as S3, Lambda, EMR, Kinesis, Step Functions, Redshift, and Snowflake.
- Implement and support ML and advanced analytics pipelines.
- Configure and manage AWS infrastructure including networking (VPCs), IAM roles and policies, and security controls.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot pipeline failures, performance issues, and access problems
Automation & CI/CD
- Automate AWS infrastructure and data platform deployments using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Reduce manual processes through scripting and automation.
Cloud Migration Support
- Lead and support migrations of on-premises data systems to AWS.
- Evaluate existing platforms and design AWS-native or hybrid replacements.
Required Experience & Skills
- 6+ years of experience in data platform, application, or cloud engineering roles.
- 4+ years of hands-on AWS experience designing and building data solutions.
- Strong experience with data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake or Amazon Redshift.
- Deep knowledge of AWS services including S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, EMR, Kinesis, Step Functions, VPC, and IAM.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data engineering and automation.
- Experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Fargate).
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, security, and cloud monitoring.
