Cable Technician

Description

We are looking for a skilled Cable Technician to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a vital role in the installation and maintenance of network cabling systems, supporting critical infrastructure projects. This role involves both technical expertise and physical tasks, including working at heights and traveling frequently.

Responsibilities:
Install and terminate Cat5 and Cat6 cables with precision and efficiency.
Set up and maintain fiber optic cables while distinguishing between fiber and copper systems.
Implement and service access control systems and video surveillance equipment.
Perform high-ceiling cabling tasks, requiring work on ladders or lifts exceeding six feet.
Travel extensively to various project sites, with all travel expenses reimbursed.
Build and organize server racks and assist with data center and office installations.
Execute wiring and node installations during apartment complex remodels and new builds.
Punch down cables to communication rooms and switches, ensuring reliable connectivity.
Collaborate with teams to spin up new data centers and office spaces.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of experience in cable installation and network cabling.
Proficiency in working with Cat5, Cat6, and fiber optic systems.
Familiarity with access control and video surveillance systems.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including working on ladders or lifts over six feet.
Willingness to travel extensively for project assignments.
Knowledge of communication room setups and fiber optic installations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Capability to work collaboratively in team environments and independently when needed.
