Project Manager and BA (Product Manager)
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Business Analyst to lead the end-to-end migration of the enterprise data platform from Azure SQL and traditional ETL to Microsoft Fabric. The Product Manager will be responsible for planning, execution, governance, and delivery of the migration program, ensuring alignment across technical teams, business stakeholders, and vendors.
This role requires strong experience managing data engineering and cloud transformation programs, with understanding of Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, and modern data architectures while also being able to capture stakeholder needs for a functional and effective Data platform.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Delivery
- Own and manage the end-to-end Microsoft Fabric implementation program.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, and dependencies.
- Define scope, deliverables, and success criteria in alignment with business objectives.
- Manage multiple workstreams (architecture, engineering, migration, testing, BI).
Stakeholder & Team Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for business, IT, and leadership stakeholders.
- Understand and front end stakeholder needs and requirements
- Coordinate activities across Data Fabric Engineers, Solution Architects, Fabric Administrators, BI teams, and vendors.
- Facilitate regular status updates, steering committee meetings, and executive reporting.
- Manage expectations, risks, and change requests.
Agile / Delivery Governance
- Run Agile / hybrid delivery models (Scrum, SAFe, or Waterfall as applicable).
- Plan and manage sprints, backlog, releases, and retrospectives.
- Ensure adherence to delivery standards, quality gates, and governance frameworks.
Migration & Risk Management
- Track and manage data migration progress from Azure SQL + ETL to Fabric.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to data quality, performance, security, and cutover.
- Coordinate testing phases (unit, integration, UAT, and production readiness).
- Plan and manage cutover, parallel runs, and decommissioning of legacy systems.
Budget, Resource & Vendor Management
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and resource allocations.
- Track capacity usage and cost impacts related to Microsoft Fabric.
- Manage external vendors and partners, ensuring contractual deliverables are met.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain project documentation including RAID logs, migration plans, and runbooks.
- Provide clear dashboards on progress, risks, dependencies, and KPIs.
- Ensure audit-ready documentation and traceability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Project Management Skills
- Proven experience managing data platform implementation projects.
- Strong understanding of data engineering and analytics platforms.
- Experience working with Agile / Scrum / SAFe methodologies.
- Excellent planning, risk management, and delivery governance skills.
Technical Understanding (Hands-on not required)
- Good understanding of:
- Microsoft Fabric architecture
- Azure SQL and ETL-based data platforms
- Lakehouse and ELT architectures
- Data migration and modernization concepts
- Ability to engage confidently with architects and engineers.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience managing Microsoft Fabric or Azure Analytics projects.
- PMP / PRINCE2 / SAFe / Agile certifications.
- Experience in regulated industries (banking, insurance, healthcare).
- Exposure to Power BI delivery and data governance programs.
