Job Title: Java Architect Backend
Location: McLean, VA (Hybrid)
Job Type: Contract
MOI: F2F

Key Responsibilities

Design and architect enterprise-grade backend systems using Java and modern frameworks.
Define end-to-end technical architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate banking requirements into technical solutions.
Establish coding standards, architectural guidelines, and best practices.
Oversee API design, microservices architecture, and system integrations.
Drive automation strategy using Playwright for backend/API testing and system validation.
Ensure compliance with banking regulations, security standards, and data protection policies.
Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and production issue resolution.
Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

10+ years of experience in backend development with Java.
Strong expertise in:
Java (Java 8+)
Spring / Spring Boot
Microservices architecture
RESTful APIs
Hands-on experience with Playwright, specifically from a backend or API testing perspective.
Solid understanding of:
Distributed systems
Design patterns
Performance tuning and optimization
Experience working in the banking or financial services domain.
Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.).
Experience with CI/CD tools, Git, and automated testing frameworks.
