Technical Engineer

Role: Technical Engineer Journeyman
Location: Remote

Role Overview:
The Journeyman Engineer will provide hands-on engineering and technical expertise to support IBM/DHS initiatives. This role focuses on system design, development, systems engineering, and data management/engineering activities within a cloud-based environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer systems and data engineering, with experience supporting enterprise or government-scale platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain system components and technical solutions aligned with project requirements.
• Perform systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, solution design, and integration.
• Support data management and data engineering efforts, including data processing, validation, and optimization.
• Develop and support solutions operating on the Microsoft Azure platform.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Agile managers, product owners, and stakeholders.
• Track work items, defects, and enhancements using Jira.
• Maintain technical documentation and artifacts in SharePoint.
• Ensure solutions meet security, performance, and quality standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3 8 years of experience in an engineering, systems engineering, or data engineering role.
• Strong background in computer systems, application development, or data engineering.
• Experience working in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with data management, data pipelines, or data integration concepts.
• Experience using Jira for task tracking and SharePoint for documentation.
• Exposure to PowerApps or low-code platforms is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting government or large enterprise programs.
• Knowledge of systems integration and enterprise architecture concepts.
• Prior experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
