Job Title: IBM Mainframe Developer (Skill Level 4 Senior)
Duration: 12 months
Location: Albany, NY (First week onsite; remaining remote)

Position Summary

A public-sector organization is seeking a Senior IBM Mainframe Developer to support enterprise application development and production operations on IBM z/OS platforms. The role requires a highly experienced developer who can work independently, provide technical leadership, and contribute across the full software development lifecycle including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including research, design, programming, testing, implementation, and production support

• Perform systems analysis and design for mainframe-based applications

• Develop, test, and maintain COBOL programs on IBM z/OS environments

• Monitor production workloads and perform diagnostics, debugging, and problem resolution

• Support batch and online processing using JCL and CICS

• Develop and maintain DB2-based applications and data access logic

• Create and maintain technical documentation related to system design, development, testing, and operations

• Perform system-to-system integrations across heterogeneous platforms (Windows, Linux, AIX) using service-oriented architecture approaches

• Provide guidance and technical mentoring to junior team members as needed

Required Skills & Experience

• 60+ months of experience developing COBOL applications on IBM z/OS mainframes, including systems analysis, design, unit testing, and integrated testing

• 48+ months of experience working with IBM JCL and CICS

• 48+ months of experience developing and supporting applications using IBM DB2

• 48+ months of experience monitoring production systems and performing debugging and error diagnostics in a mainframe environment

• 36+ months of experience creating and maintaining technical documentation for mainframe application design, development, and testing

• 36+ months of experience performing system-to-system integrations across heterogeneous platforms using service-oriented architecture (SOA)
