Title: Database Administrator (Modernization & Migration)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Mid-Level DBA to drive our transition from legacy COTS DB2 platforms to a modern, AWS-hosted PostgreSQL environment. This role focuses on implementing automated CI/CD workflows, optimizing high-performance data models, and supporting continuous delivery through modern tools like dbt and Jenkins.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Migration & Modernization: Execute the end-to-end migration of legacy DB2 workloads to AWS PostgreSQL (RDS/Aurora) using schema conversion and data validation tools.
- Performance Engineering: Conduct deep-dive SQL and database tuning to ensure optimal performance on the PostgreSQL platform.
- Data Modeling & Design: Create and maintain Enterprise Data Models, ERDs, and comprehensive Data Dictionaries using Erwin.
- Automation & CI/CD: Develop and manage automated database deployment pipelines utilizing Jenkins and CI/CD best practices to ensure seamless production releases.
- Data Transformation: Implement and manage complex data transformations and Materialized Views utilizing the dbt (data build tool) framework.
- Production Support: Maintain production release "Run Books " and provide on-call support for weekend releases and critical system incidents.
- Environment Management: Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) by managing automated data refreshes and environment provisioning.
- Data Migration/ETL data reconciliation support: Support data validation efforts by developing data comparison scripts using SQL.
Required Technical Qualifications
- Core Database Skills: 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience with PostgreSQL and legacy experience with IBM DB2.
- Cloud Expertise: Proficiency in managing AWS database services (Amazon RDS, Aurora).
- Automation Tools: Strong experience with Jenkins for pipeline automation and dbt for data transformation (nice to have).
- Modeling Tools: Expert-level proficiency with Erwin Data Modeler for physical and logical schema design.
- Optimization: Advanced knowledge of SQL performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Deployment: Experience with version control (Git) and automated deployment of database changes.
- SQL Experience: Proficient in engineering high-performance, optimized SQL queries to ensure maximum data retrieval efficiency and system scalability.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Experience with AWS SCT (Schema Conversion Tool) and DMS (Database Migration Service).
- Scripting proficiency in Python or Shell to automate repetitive tasks.
- Ability to translate complex legacy DB2 logic into modernized PostgreSQL structures.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional development and DevOps teams.
Work Conditions
- Participation in a rotating on-call schedule for production support.
- Required availability for scheduled weekend releases.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, SAFe, CSM, or similar certifications
- Experience with Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, Kafka/OpenFlow
- Experience with data governance, master data, or UDM concepts
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and cloud security frameworks
