The Senior Backup Solutions Architect (Sr. Backup Solutions Architect) is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise-level backup and disaster recovery solutions. The Sr. Backup Solutions Architect will collaborate with infrastructure teams, cloud engineers, security specialists, and business stakeholders to ensure that critical data is reliably protected, recoverable, and compliant with relevant regulations and service-level agreements.
The Sr. Backup Solutions Architect will maintain and support a variety of backup and storage systems, including CommVault, Commvault Cloud, Auto-Recovery (DR), M365 Protection, Azure AD Protection, Cloud VM Backups, Air Gap Protect (AGP), Commvault CleanRoom, Dell/EMC, IBM, NetApp, and Pure Storage. The Sr. Backup Solutions Architect administers, installs, configures, and maintains all backup and storage solutions; creates CommVault backup jobs for Linux, UNIX, and Windows hosts; manages Network Attached Storage (NAS) through NDMP; encompasses working with databases such as DB2, SQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL; and handles the masking, zoning, and provisioning of storage for UNIX, Windows, and VMware servers. The Sr. Backup Solutions Architect will oversee all data backup and recovery support for cloud service providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), OCI and IBM Cloud, including planning regular system upgrades, checking system health, and implementing necessary adjustments. The Sr. Backup Solutions Architect will analyze issues reported by both internal and external teams, offering recommendations and designing systems architecture; collaborating with customers to test applications post-changes and upgrading hardware efficiently with minimal downtime; and evaluating new application software technologies and ensuring security products are consistently patched.
Skills Required:
The Sr. Backup Solutions Architect will possess in-depth understanding, knowledge and experience of Commvault and Commvault Cloud SaaS solutions, along with experience in AWS, Microsoft Azure, OCI and Google Cloud Platform; effectively document technical information and communicate seamlessly with business teams, customers, and technical teams in areas like networking, security, and vendor management; perform data protection for On-premises and Public-Cloud using Commvault and perform regular upgrades; execute storage migrations; consolidate data centers; and manage Pure Storage solutions, both hardware and software. The Sr. Backup Solutions Architect will be well-versed in Data Protection and storage systems, particularly Dell and NetApp solutions like ONTAP, SnapMirror, and SnapVault; be familiar with scripting languages like PowerShell and Python for automating tasks is important, as is proficiency with UNIX systems (IBM AIX, Linux, HP-UX) and networking hardware; and the ability to design and manage scalable cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and IBM Cloud. They will possess strong oral and written communication skills, effective time management, attention to detail, and the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
Work Experience Required:
This classification requires, within the last eight (8) years, minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a Senior Backup Solutions Architect, or similar, for data protection systems, such as CommVault and CommVault Cloud, including configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting within enterprise environments; six (6) years of experience with storage solutions from Dell/EMC, IBM, NetApp, and Pure Storage, encompassing both midrange and enterprise-class storage arrays; and seven (7) years of experience using, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting cloud-based backup, servers, and storage systems in enterprise settings.
Education/Training Required:
This classification requires a bachelor's degree in an IT-related or Computer Science field, and credentials as a Commvault Certified Professional Administrator. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education and Commvault Certified Professional Administrator credentials on a year-for-year basis.
