Job Title: Senior Data Engineer (ETL & BI Focus)
Type: Fulltime
Location: Remote - USA
Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust security clearance.
Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and analytical Data Engineer/ETL Specialist to join our technical team. This is a pivotal role responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data architecture that supports critical agency reporting. The ideal candidate is a "builder" who is comfortable working within the AWS ecosystem to create robust ETL pipelines using Python, and who also possesses the business intelligence sensibilities to develop insightful dashboards using Power BI or Tableau. You will play a key role in transforming siloed, raw data into actionable insights for agency leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- ETL Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and automate scalable Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL/ELT) processes to move data from various government source systems into our central data warehouse.
- AWS Infrastructure Management: Utilize AWS cloud services (such as S3, Glue, Lambda, RDS, or Redshift) to architect secure and efficient data solutions.
- Data Transformation & Coding: Write clean, maintainable Python code for complex data manipulation, cleansing, and validation to ensure high data quality standards.
- Business Intelligence Reporting: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and develop interactive, high-impact dashboards and reports using Power BI or Tableau to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Data Governance: Ensure all data architecture complies with federal security standards, data governance policies, and privacy regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering or ETL development.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing complex ETL pipelines.
- Strong proficiency in Python for data processing and scripting.
- Proven experience working within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment.
- Significant experience developing advanced reports and visualizations using either Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong SQL skills for querying and analyzing data.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired but not required):
- Experience with the Snowflake Data Cloud platform.
- AWS Certified Data Analytics or Solutions Architect certifications.
- Prior experience working within a federal agency or heavily regulated environment.
