Brightpoint is seeking qualified applicants for the position of
Manager of Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure. The primary purpose of this position is to plan, manage, and oversee college-approved information technology applications and infrastructure required to support the College's mission and operational objectives. The incumbent serves as the primary liaison between Brightpoint Community College and the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) for enterprise applications and related technology services.
This position functions as a project implementation manager responsible for software development initiatives, system implementations and adoption, infrastructure installations and upgrades, and other technology-related changes. The position is accountable for database services, application and web development, systems analysis, networking, and server infrastructure.
This role is responsible for the supervision and management of assigned staff, including performance management, professional development, and identification of training needs. The position ensures the development, maintenance, and enforcement of applicable procedures, standards, and guidelines to support consistent and effective service delivery. The incumbent performs other related duties as assigned.
The Manager of IT Infrastructure is designated as a working manager and requires direct, hands-on involvement in operational and tactical activities, in addition to managerial, supervisory, and administrative responsibilities. The incumbent is expected to lead by example and actively contribute to technical work as needed to support institutional goals.
Minimum Qualifications: Required:
Working considerable knowledge of system analysis and design; networking concepts and best practices; server and storage concepts and best practices; LAN and WAN technologies server and storage technologies; advanced network configuration and firewall technologies; vulnerability management solutions; Active Directory; VMware and Virtualization technologies.
Demonstrated skill in all areas listed under Working Considerable Knowledge ; timeline development and management; budget development. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels of management. Outstanding oral/written communication.
Demonstrated ability to develop enterprise architecture and strategies; apply appropriate change management methodologies; prioritize and work under the pressure of multiple demands while meeting/exceeding deadlines; prioritize and define architectural and infrastructure needs to meet the mission and goals of Brightpoint Community College Lifecycle management for enterprise IT assets; manage customer expectations; learn new methodologies and appropriate applications; provide direct supervision for highly skilled staff; understand a highly technical and complex work environment, and plan accordingly; be a self-starter and work independently; coordinate multiple projects and their related priorities; work effectively as a part of a management team; plan and execute complex tasks; work on multiple tasks simultaneously; work and respond in stressful situations; anticipate customers' needs and initiate the appropriate actions.
Experience in managing and leading a technical support team; supporting application and infrastructure environments; application and system analysis; designing and managing large computer networks and system infrastructures; managing and maintaining IT security; managing and maintaining network firewalls and intrusion prevention systems; managing and maintaining network monitoring systems and solutions.
Additional Considerations:Bachelor's degree Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security or related field or any equivalent training and experience. Experience working in Higher Education.
