Position: Mainframe Tester
Work Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)
Duration: Long Term Contract
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software-testing experience, including deep hands-on work in both manual and automated frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cucumber).
- Proven track record building end-to-end test strategies for complex, front-to-back workflows.
- Understanding how the mainframe processes data, designing and validating data-migration flows from mainframe to distributed tiers, and testing those migrations in the live mainframe environment.
- Comfortable partnering with Product, DevOps, Engineering and Operations to embed quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Skilled at balancing PODs individual priorities while maintaining a coherent, end-to-end test strategy across both distributed and mainframe platforms.
- Experience defining test roadmaps, metrics/KPIs (e.g., defect leakage, test coverage, automation percentage) and continuously improving them.
- Skilled at risk-based testing: prioritizing what to test when timelines are tight and leveraging data to drive coverage decisions.
- Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, DevOps) to build automation into nightly/regression suites.
- Expert in Playwright for UI automation and Insomnia for API testing.
- Familiarity with modern test management platforms (TestRail, qTest) and defect-tracking tools (JIRA).
- Exceptional verbal and written communicator able to translate technical test results into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proactive in surfacing risks early and driving cross-team alignment on scope, timelines and acceptance criteria.
- Playwright, Cucumber/BDD, Selenium, Mainframe Testing, CICD, Jira, Scrum, and Kanban.
