Job Description: The Lead Business Intelligence Specialist provides oversight and consultative advice and guidance to others as the top specialist with enterprise or significant cross business mandate. This role is responsible to provide the design/development of complex presentations, reports, dashboards and scorecards to support business needs; ensures alignment of metrics across the organization. This role acts a technical working lead/expert to others. This role works closely with senior leadership on significant projects. Additionally, this role drives the streamline, healthiness, and simplification of the reporting stack, ensuring optimal efficiency and clarity.
Department Overview: The Lead Business Intelligence Specialist role is within the Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) function. Within FCRM, we are building strategic data repositories and data constructs to serve as the single source of truth for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) reporting, metrics, analytics, modeling, and others AML risk management needs. The design/development of reports, dashboards, scorecards as outlined in the job description specifically pertains to technical assessments on data warehouses, source systems, and the validation of FCRM's data ecosystem.
Depth & Scope: - Generally accountable for a significant business or area that has cross business or enterprise wide impact or accountability
- Enterprise domain/functional expert, requires broad managerial and deep specialized knowledge at the enterprise, business, regulatory and industry levels
- Undertakes and completes a variety of complex initiatives requiring seasoned specialist knowledge and/or the integration of cross functional processes
- Typically deals with senior/executive management
- Focuses on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)
- May manage and prioritize multiple projects at a given time
- May interact with any hierarchy level up to executive leaders and external vendors
Education & Experience: - Undergraduate degree or advanced technical degree preferred (e.g., math, physics, engineering, finance or computer science) Graduate's degree preferred with either progressive project work experience, or;
- 7+ year of relevant experience; higher degree education and research tenure can be counted
Preferred Skillsets: - Maintain domain knowledge of TD Bank's source system data that includes both application databases and business data warehouse(s)
- Ability to inform against and define technical requirements for the construct of AML data models and data structures (both structured and unstructured)
- Write and execute data validation scripts between source systems and targeted AML data warehouse(s)
- Ability to define and/or validate ETL logic and identify any programming issues/bugs
- Ability to construct entity relations diagrams (ERD) for various data constructs.
- Design and manage various business architecture diagrams to demonstrate data inflows and outflows throughout FCRM's tech stack
- Possess expertise knowledge on various database types for both on-premises (Oracle and Hadoop preferred) and cloud storage (MicroSoft Azure preferred).
- Able to construct and maintain various data mapping documentation and meta data catalogs
- Able to define and suggest logic for the design of data validation rules
- Conduct meetings and presentations to senior management
- Collaborate and contribute both individually and in a team setting
- Serve as a Team Lead, supervising and overseeing the execution of cross functional work
Customer Accountabilities: - Provides deep technical leadership and expertise to support and define future direction in one or more specialized areas or leads strategic development efforts on new or emerging business intelligence related projects
- Works closely with business owners to identify opportunities and serves as an ambassador for business intelligence
- Plays a lead role in building cutting edge business intelligence and reporting solutions
- Designs and delivers enterprise business intelligence solutions to our customers
- Develops and monitors and adopts the business Intelligence solutions meeting and delivers the right value to its customers, including making and executing any enhancement opportunities
- Provides deep advisory or consultative services for broad range of colleagues including multi-format data visualization techniques and communication best practice

- Ensures respective programs/policies/practices are well managed, meets business needs, complies with internal and external requirements, and aligns with business priorities

- Ensures business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)
- Participates in cross-functional/enterprise initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to identify risk/provide guidance for complex situations
- Conducts internal and external research projects; supports the development/delivery of presentations/communications to management or broader audience
- Conducts meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs/policies/practices
- Monitors service, productivity and assesses efficiency levels within own function and implements continuous process/performance improvements where opportunities exist
- Leads/facilitates and/or implements action/remediation plans to address performance/risk/governance issues
- Actively manages relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions and ensures alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
- Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
