Position Overview
As a member of the DevOps team, the DevOps Engineer will design, build, and maintain stable, scalable, and secure infrastructure environments to support the deployment of enterprise software across internal, cloud, and customer-hosted networks. This role leverages people, process, and technology to drive collaboration and innovation across software development, operations, and release management.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong customer focus, a positive and proactive mindset, and exceptional troubleshooting skills. This position plays a critical role in ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability throughout the full software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Independently plan and execute objectives using sound judgment and technical expertise
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Sales, Configuration Management, Support, and Project Management teams
Apply DevOps best practices to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency across development, deployment, and release processes
Design, build, and maintain resilient infrastructure solutions to meet uptime and performance requirements in cloud-based and client-hosted environments
Implement and manage infrastructure automation, including backup solutions, security tooling, and monitoring systems
Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve processes for building, packaging, and deploying software
Establish performance baselines, define thresholds, and track trends related to deployments and system configurations
Identify, evaluate, and implement new tools to enhance deployment pipelines and monitoring capabilities
Manage and configure virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.)
Develop, manage, and maintain configuration management (CM) automated installation processes for products and customer environments
Install proprietary, public, and third-party software in development, test, and production environments, including customer sites
Maintain detailed installation and deployment documentation and troubleshoot installation issues
Manage Kubernetes environments, including:
Cluster installation on bare metal and virtual servers
Cloud-based Kubernetes administration
Pod, container, node, and storage configuration and management
Maintain software release records for each customer site
Perform database import/export operations, execute scripts, and ideally develop and run complex SQL queries
Support field device testing, software rollouts, OS patching, application configuration, and COTS tool upgrades
Coordinate and execute software releases to production environments in collaboration with customers
Partner with internal stakeholders to design, document, and propose architectural solutions for current and future deployments
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support after-hours infrastructure incidents and meet service-level requirements
Qualifications & Competencies
3-6+ years of experience designing, deploying, and maintaining on-premises and hosted infrastructure solutions
Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer in a scalable, production environment
Strong expertise in DevOps methodologies supporting Agile development, CI/CD, and automated testing
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and management platforms such as Rancher
Proficiency with Git-based version control systems (GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.)
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar
Proficiency in scripting languages including Python, Bash, PowerShell, Perl, or PHP
Working knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Go, JavaScript, or C++
Familiarity with APIs including REST, GraphQL, and SOAP
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to self-manage tasks, prioritize work, and deliver projects independently
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
Strong experience administering Linux and/or Windows operating systems
Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure provisioning and management, preferably AWS
Demonstrated experience managing multi-node Kubernetes clusters, including common maintenance tasks such as:
IP address changes
Host/node updates
Storage configuration and migration
