MuleSoft Lead Developer (Contract)

Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and delivery of MuleSoft APIs and integration flows across OMS, ERP, eCommerce, Payments, and CRM systems.
Establish API-led connectivity patterns (System, Process, Experience APIs) in alignment with domain[1]driven design principles.
Define and enforce integration standards, best practices, and governance within MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
Oversee CI/CD pipelines and secure deployments to CloudHub and Runtime Fabric.
Drive observability and reliability, including monitoring, alerting, logging, and performance tuning.
Collaborate with architects on API governance, security models, and reusability frameworks.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to MuleSoft engineers and contractors, conducting design reviews and knowledge sharing.
Operate in a DevOps environment ("you build it, you run it"), with accountability for production stability.
Ensure all integrations comply with security, compliance (GDPR, PCI), and audit requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
7+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years hands-on MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (Mule 4).
Proven experience leading integration teams or large-scale MuleSoft delivery.
Expertise with DataWeave, API Designer, API Manager, Anypoint Exchange.
Strong background in event-driven integrations (JMS, IBM MQ, Kafka, Google Pub/Sub).
Skilled in REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, and modern API design.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Maven) and Runtime Fabric/Kubernetes deployments.
Strong troubleshooting ability with MuleSoft Runtime Manager, alerting, monitoring, and logging tools.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform/AWS/Azure) and hybrid integration architectures.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with ability to collaborate across functions. Preferred Skills
Experience integrating with retail, eCommerce, or order management systems.
Knowledge of API gateways (Apigee) alongside MuleSoft.
Exposure to domain-driven design, microservices architecture, and event-based systems.
