Summary

Job Title: Senior Identity and Access Management (IAM) Analyst

Location: Hybrid (Chicago Area Preferred)

Overview The Senior IAM Analyst leads complex identity governance initiatives, designs and optimizes access controls, enforces compliance, and drives improvements in IAM processes to support Zero Trust architecture and data segmentation goals. This role provides technical and strategic guidance, mentors junior team members, and collaborates with senior stakeholders across IT, Security, Compliance, and business units to reduce access-related risks while enabling secure, efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead design and refinement of role-based access control (RBAC), attribute-based access control (ABAC), and least-privilege models aligned with data segmentation and Zero Trust principles.
Conduct in-depth access reviews, segregation of duties (SoD) analysis, and certification campaigns; remediate findings and report on compliance posture.
Oversee user lifecycle management (joiner/mover/leaver) at scale, including automated provisioning/de-provisioning workflows and exception handling.
Perform advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and resolution for escalated IAM incidents, access anomalies, or policy violations.
Contribute to IAM strategy, policy development, and roadmap planning; evaluate emerging tools/technologies and recommend enhancements.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior IAM analysts; review their work and support knowledge transfer.
Generate executive-level reports, dashboards, and metrics on IAM effectiveness, risk reduction, and audit readiness (e.g., SOX, NIST, GDPR).
Partner with application, cloud, and security teams to integrate IAM controls into segmentation efforts and new system onboarding.
Support privileged access management (PAM) integration and monitoring for high-risk accounts.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
5–8+ years in IAM, identity governance, or access control roles (with at least 3 years in a senior/lead capacity).
Deep hands-on experience with enterprise IAM platforms (e.g., SailPoint IdentityNow/IQ, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID Governance, Saviynt).
Strong expertise in authentication/authorization protocols (SAML, OAuth/OIDC, SCIM), directory services (Active Directory, LDAP), and MFA/Zero Trust concepts.
Proven track record in access certification, SoD enforcement, role mining, and compliance reporting.
Certifications: One or more of CISSP, CISM, Okta Certified Professional/Administrator, Microsoft Identity & Access Administrator, SailPoint Certified IdentityNow Engineer, or equivalent.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

Preferred:

Experience with cloud IAM (AWS IAM, Azure AD/Entra, Google Cloud Platform) and integration with segmentation tools (e.g., network micro-segmentation platforms).
Scripting/automation proficiency (PowerShell, Python) for IAM workflows and reporting.
Prior involvement in large-scale IAM transformations, audits, or regulatory compliance programs.
