Overview
Our client, a leader and growing presence in the robotics and autonomous vehicles space, is seeking a senior Perception Engineer to design, optimize, and deploy AI-driven perception systems for autonomous robotic platforms. This role focuses on computer vision, sensor fusion, and real-time perception pipelines that enable robots to reliably understand and operate in complex, real-world environments. You will work at the intersection of AI research and production systems, delivering perception capabilities used in live autonomous products.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy AI-based perception models for object detection, classification, segmentation, and tracking.
- Build and optimize real-time perception pipelines for accuracy, robustness, and low-latency performance in field conditions.
- Integrate perception systems with planning, control (GNC), safety, and autonomy platforms.
- Convert perception models into production-ready services, APIs, or embedded components.
- Fuse data from cameras, LiDAR, radar, depth sensors, and multimodal sensor suites.
- Tune models and inference pipelines for GPU/embedded performance and efficient resource usage.
- Collaborate with AI, robotics, systems, and software teams across research and product environments.
- Validate perception systems using simulation, recorded datasets, and field testing, and monitor deployed systems to continuously improve performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of engineering experience, including 2-5+ years working with AI/ML systems.
- Strong programming experience with Python (required); C++ (C++11+) and ROS highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Proven background in computer vision, perception, or sensor fusion for autonomous systems.
- Experience integrating AI perception models into existing autonomy or robotics platforms.
- Strong understanding of real-time systems, multithreaded Linux environments, and performance optimization.
