Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Developer SME to join our team. The ideal candidate will have over 15 years of deep technical expertise in mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and related tools.
As a Subject Matter Expert, you will lead complex projects, provide strategic technical guidance, mentor junior developers, and ensure the delivery of high-quality mainframe solutions aligned with business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of mainframe applications and enhancements.
• Serve as the technical SME for COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, and related mainframe tools and technologies.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into efficient and scalable mainframe solutions.
• Develop and optimize batch and online processing programs ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior and mid-level developers.
• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration with other systems.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and ensure best practices are followed.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex production issues and performance bottlenecks.
• Lead and participate in mainframe migration and modernization initiatives.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for solutions developed.
• Stay updated with industry trends, emerging mainframe technologies, and best practices.
• Provide input to capacity planning, disaster recovery, and security compliance efforts related to mainframe systems.
Required Skills and Expertise:
• 15+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe application development and support.
• Expert knowledge of COBOL programming, including DB2 embedded SQL.
• Strong experience with CICS transaction processing and JCL scripting.
• Proficiency in debugging and performance tuning of mainframe applications.
• Experience working with VSAM files, MQ Series, and other mainframe subsystems.
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices in mainframe environments.
• Experience in mainframe modernization projects and integrating mainframe with distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of database design, SQL queries, and relational databases like DB2.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience mentoring and leading teams.
• Knowledge of mainframe security protocols and compliance standards.
